]]>Over the summer, Ohio State Buckeyes women’s basketball coach Kevin McGuff was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle intoxicated (OVI). Now, he has officially received his sentence for the incident.
McGuff had initially been charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence, a first-degree misdemeanor, after he was arrested in the driveway of his home. However, he has now pled guilty to a lesser charge.
According to the Columbus Dispatch, McGuff pleaded guilty to an amended traffic charge of physical control.
McGuff was not present in Franklin County Municipal Court when the plea was entered on Dec. 23. The plea was entered “in absentia” by McGuff’s attorney Richard Piatt.
The coach was arrested back in May after he was unable to pass multiple field sobriety tests.
“Due to the totality of the circumstances including, Kevin’s car parked partially in his yard, Kevin not being able to roll down his window, unnatural duration it took to respond to basic questions, the poor performance of the in-car tests, the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person, and the clues that I observed during his Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, I placed Kevin under arrest for OVI,” the responding officer wrote in the police report back in May.
Ohio State suspended McGuff for two weeks after his arrest. McGuff said he sought treatment at the Wexner Medical Center.
“The Department of Athletics is aware of an incident involving women’s basketball head coach Kevin McGuff,” Ohio State said in a statement at the time of his arrest. “The department is in communication with Coach McGuff and monitoring the situation closely. This is an ongoing, personal legal matter, and the department will share additional information at the appropriate time.”
McGuff has been Ohio State’s head coach since 2013. His contract with the team runs through the 2025-26 season. Ohio State currently has an 11-1 record and is ranked No. 19 in the country.

]]>The Texas Longhorns entered the 2025 campaign with what we now know to be an unfair amount of hype surrounding young quarterback Arch Manning, who was billed by the media as the best thing since sliced bread, even though he’d never served as a starter for a full season at the collegiate level.
Manning opened the season as the odds-on Heisman trophy favorite, and was touted by ESPN’s Paul Finebaum as “the best college football quarterback we have seen since Tim Tebow entered the scene in 2006.”
Draft expert Mel Kiper pegged him as the top quarterback in the 2026 draft class, even though Manning never indicated he’d declare early
“We put him at No. 1 because we have to. It’s Arch Manning. We saw glimpses last year of the greatness he could provide that Texas offense. Running the football, he’s got great legs. Cooper Manning, his father, was a wide receiver until he got injured. So he’s got speed – something Eli and Peyton didn’t have,” Kiper said.
However, things didn’t pan out the way the media expected, and Arch had an extremely up-and-down season, and the Longhorns missed the College Football Playoff. He has since decided to return for his senior season, but after a year in which many fans and pundits wondered if Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian would be better off benching him, it’s not all that crazy to wonder if Manning would be better off entering the transfer portal for a fresh start.
However, previous comments from his uncle, legendary NFL quarterback Peyton Manning, confirm that Texas is the only school and that Sark is the coach Arch wants to play for.
“He went to Texas because he wanted to play at Texas. He wanted to go to college and play for (Steve) Sarkisian… most of the right reasons you should choose a college. I’m glad he’s staying there,” Peyton said.
With it being clear that Arch is staying put for his senior campaign, it’ll be interesting to see if he can put together the sort of season fans were expecting this year now that he knows what will be required of him in a season of play in the SEC.

]]>The Arizona Cardinals have played the majority of their season without starting quarterback Kyler Murray. Now, it sounds like the team has signed another veteran quarterback as they bolster the position late in the season.
Murray last played for the Cardinals in an Oct. 5 loss to the Tennessee Titans and will not return to the team this season as a result of an injury.
Since his injury, the team has opted to start veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett in his place. That will continue this week, but after one of the team’s reserve quarterbacks was signed to another team this week, the Cardinals had to make a move to ensure depth behind him.
This week, the Washington Commanders signed veteran quarterback Jeff Driskel to their active roster off the Arizona practice squad. In a corresponding move, the Cardinals found a replacement on Wednesday, signing veteran quarterback Logan Woodside to the practice squad.
Woodside will now serve as the team’s emergency third-string quarterback behind Brissett and Kedon Slovis.
While Woodside has never started a game in his NFL career, he does have a lot of history in the league.
Selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Woodside has also spent time with the Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers throughout his career. Woodside also played for the San Antonio Commanders of the Alliance of American Football (AAF) back in 2019.
Woodside has appeared in 14 games throughout his career. In those games, he has just one completion for seven yards on three passing attempts. He also has 14 rushing attempts for 10 yards throughout his career.

]]>The Dallas Cowboys have officially been eliminated from postseason contention and will miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season. However, star quarterback Dak Prescott promises that won’t happen again next season.
In a recent press conference, Prescott issued a major guarantee to Cowboys fans, guaranteeing that the team would not miss the postseason again next season.
“We won’t be back here in this spot,” Prescott said Tuesday, via Todd Archer of ESPN.
Prescott thinks that an increased role in the team’s decision-making will allow him to prevent this from happening again next season.
“I feel like the last few times I’ve said that were playoff losses,” Prescott said. “Each year has its own troubles. Each year has its own highs, lows, ebbs and flows and everything within it. The importance is controlling what you can. . . . I’m going to do my damnedest, controlling what I can and as you get older, I think having more input, having more say so and being asked more questions from the front office.
“Maybe there’s a little bit more that I can do, and it’s not physically or me getting better at my game. Maybe it’s speaking up and saying that this will help or I think this can help. Whatever it takes, once again I’m going to do my damnedest and make sure that I’m influencing and encouraging everybody else around me, not just the players, to do the same.”
While the Cowboys may not have had the season they had hoped as a team, Prescott has had a lot of individual success.
So far this season, Prescott has thrown for 4,175 yards with 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He earned his fourth Pro Bowl honor as a result of the stellar season.
Prescott is proud of his individual accomplishments, but he also made it clear that his priority is team success.
“My success, that accolade is 100 percent is shared with each and every one of those guys in there,” Prescott said. “It’s pretty cool to be a Pro Bowler, but at the end of the day, it’s not what we’re going for.”
We’ll have to see whether or not Prescott is able to follow through on that promise next season.

]]>Ohio State Buckeyes star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith dealt with some concerning injury issues down the stretch for Ohio State that head coach Ryan Day was reluctant to talk about at the time. Now, however, with Smith fully healthy and the team preparing for a College Football Playoff run, Day has broken his silence on the matter.
Speaking with reporters this week, Smith disclosed that he suffered a quad strain during practice leading up to Ohio State’s victory over the UCLA Bruins.
Despite the injury, Smith attempted to gut it out and played in the first quarter against UCLA, but the setback ultimately forced him to miss the following game against Rutgers.
Although he was able to return a week later and play a key role in Ohio State’s win over rival Michigan, Smith admitted that his availability for that game was very much in doubt, as he wasn’t sure his body would allow him to suit up.
“After Rutgers week, I was feeling down. I was like, I don’t know if I’m going to play. I was debating if I was going to play or not because it was really bad. I didn’t know if I was going to be able to play,” Smith said via Buckeye Sports Bulletin.
Smith acknowledged that the injury likely should have kept him out for multiple weeks, but he pushed through the pain in order to be there for his teammates.
“But I had to do everything for the team, and I wanted to be out there and I did everything I could, and we got the win,” Smith said. “I was dealing with a quad strain and I was really supposed to be out for three to four weeks, and for me to pull that out, I give all the glory to God for that one.”
Smith didn’t just appear in the game, he made a major impact, hauling in three receptions for 40 yards and a touchdown, including a pivotal grab in the second quarter that put the Buckeyes ahead.
Day offered some high praise for how the superstar receiver handled his injury status.
“I remember sitting down and talking to him and saying, ‘You have to will yourself to be healthy.’ He was wearing it early for a couple days, not to get too far into it. And I could see it on his face. Jeremiah cares a lot about his team. He loves Ohio State. He loves his teammates and he loves playing the game. For that to be taken away from him was not a good thing.
“I looked him right in the eye and I said, ‘Listen, no matter, JJ, what happens, we’re going to go win that game with or without you. Now we need you, and we want you in the game.’ It’s kind of like a weight got taken off his shoulders, and he willed himself to be healthy into that game and play in that game and it’s tremendous. He just did an amazing job. It goes to show you, when you set your mind to something, you can get it done, and he did it.”
The good news is that Smith said he is now fully healthy heading into Ohio State’s College Football Playoff showdown with the Miami Hurricanes.

]]>As the Ohio State Buckeyes prepare for a College Football Playoff showdown with the Miami Hurricanes, superstar wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has opened up about an injury that nearly sidelined him for an extended period of time earlier this season.
During a press conference this week, Jeremiah Smith revealed that he suffered a quad strain during practice before the team’s win over the UCLA Bruins.
Smith tried to play through the injury, appearing in the first quarter of the showdown against UCLA, but the injury sidelined him the following week against Rutgers.
While Smith did return to the field a week later to help lead Ohio State to victory against rival Michigan, he revealed that his return was far from a given as he admits that there were times when he was not sure whether or not he would be able to play in the game.
“After Rutgers week, I was feeling down. I was like, I don’t know if I’m going to play. I was debating if I was going to play or not because it was really bad. I didn’t know if I was going to be able to play,” Smith said via Buckeye Sports Bulletin.
Smith admitted that the injury probably should have sidelined him for several weeks, but he fought through it and got back on the field.
“But I had to do everything for the team, and I wanted to be out there and I did everything I could, and we got the win,” Smith said. “I was dealing with a quad strain and I was really supposed to be out for three to four weeks, and for me to pull that out, I give all the glory to God for that one.”
Not only did Smith play in the game, but he caught three passes for 40 yards and a touchdown, including a crucial catch that gave the Buckeyes the lead in the second quarter of the game.
The good news is that now, after a few weeks off, Smith is fully recovered and feels fully healthy heading into the College Football Playoff.
“It was just a little adversity, I should say,” Smith said. “It was something I never really had to deal with. I’ve never been hurt, but that was something serious I had to deal with.”

]]>The Pittsburgh Steelers are close to winning the AFC North and punching their ticket to the playoffs. With six losses on the season, winning the division figures to be the Steelers’ only path to the postseason, where they’re looking to end their drought of playoff wins before it reaches a decade.
The Steelers could clinch the division on Saturday night if the Green Bay Packers are able to defeat the Baltimore Ravens. However, even if the Ravens gut out a win, Pittsburgh and star quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be able to take care of business and wrap up the division on Sunday by defeating the Cleveland Browns.
Unfortunately, Rodgers is going to have to manufacture a victory without his top receiving threat. There was worry around Pittsburgh that wide receiver DK Metcalf would be suspended for his role in an altercation with a fan in Pittsburgh’s game against the Detroit Lions.
Now, a suspension has been confirmed, according to one of the league’s top insiders.
“NFL suspended Steelers WR D.K. Metcalf two games for the swipe he took at a fan during Sunday’s game in Detroit. Metcalf still can appeal, but he now is slated to miss the Steelers’ upcoming potential game vs. the Browns,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Schefter followed up with exactly which policy Metcalf violated.
“DK Metcalf’s actions violate league policy, which specifies that ‘players may not enter the stands or otherwise confront fans at any time on game day and…if a player makes unnecessary physical contact with a fan in any way that constitutes unsportsmanlike conduct or presents crowd-control issues and/or risk of injury, he will be held accountable.'”

It’ll be interesting to see how Rodgers looks with a depleted receiving corps on Sunday, considering wide receiver Calvin Austin III is managing a hamstring injury that may keep him out of Sunday’s contest as well.

This season, after the failed experiments that were Justin Fields and Russell Wilson last year, four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers is the starting quarterback in the Steel City. While the Steelers have had an up and down season with Rodgers at the helm, the offense and veteran quarterback seem to be hitting their stride down the stretch.
A win over the Cleveland Browns would clinch the AFC North title for Pittsburgh (and they may even clinch on Saturday night if the Green Bay Packers can defeat the Baltimore Ravens). Unfortunately, Rodgers is going to have to figure out a way to get it done without his top target, as star wide receiver DK Metcalf has been suspended by the league for an altercation he had with a fan in Pittsburgh’s win over the Detroit Lions.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Should have been arrested during the game for assault,” someone else added.
“Crashing out on fans while your team is fighting for a Playoff spot is clown (behavior),” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how Rodgers manages on Sunday in such an important game without his top downfield weapon.

]]>The Los Angeles Chargers are looking to make a deep playoff run after what’s been an MVP-caliber season from star quarterback Justin Herbert. Although Herbert isn’t getting the sort of media attention he deserves, he has been absolutely dominant this season.
Thanks to Herbert’s incredible play this year, the Chargers still have an outside shot of earning the number one overall seed in the AFC despite the brutal injuries to their offensive line.
However, the Chargers will have to win out to pull this off. Unfortunately, Herbert is now looking at a reality where he may have to gut out more wins without yet another key offensive contributor.
“Chargers RB Kimani Vidal, who left Sunday’s win over the #Cowboys early, was diagnosed with a neck strain and is considered day-to-day, source says after the MRI. Vidal could miss time, but the belief is that it’s not serious,” NFL Network’s Ian Rappoport reported on Monday.

“Not sure why he be on special teams . They can’t afford no more injuries,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Nothing too serious for Kimani, but he should still be resting for a little while; that makes two big losses for the game against the Texans and maybe against the Broncos, after Perryman’s two-game suspension,” someone else added.
“I can live with that news,” another fan wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see if Herbert gets some serious MVP consideration if he can lead the Chargers to the one-seed after all of the injuries.

This also figures to be superstar tight end Travis Kelce’s last season in the league, with most fans and pundits expecting the future Hall of Famer to retire after the season wraps.
However, Kelce may have other things on his mind. Popular podcaster and the founder of the Ringer, Bill Simmons, recently may have revealed that Taylor Swift, Kelce’s fiancée, is pregnant, which would be the most insane way imaginable for the reveal.

And he’s just kind of running around this f*cking Titans game, trying not to get hurt. Fake an injury. Just fake an injury and end the thing,” Simmons said on the podcast.
