Who is Talullah? And Why is it her World?

Yep, been asked that before. Talullah is my daughter’s middle name. I adopted it as a screen name when I first went online so many years ago. It’s orgins are from the Cherokee Nation (some also say it’s Choctaw as well) from the American South. It means leaping water, and there is even a story to go along with it that takes place at the Tallulah River and Falls in what is now Georgia. You can read the story here. As to why it’s Talullah’s world? My daughter is a headstrong and independent little girl who is hard to sway once she’s made up her mind. There are also three common spellings of her name; Tallulah, Talullah, and Talulah. I’m sure if I looked, I would find more.

Who Is The Author Behind Talullah’s World?

I’m not normally one to describe myself, but at best I can tell you that I am just as headstrong, if not more so than my daughter. For many years I raised a special needs son on my own before adding my boyfriend and my daughter to our little family. I’d like to think that we are a close family with the strength to overcome most obstacles set before us. We have seen some rough times, and life still had a rose scented smell to it for us. My son is now a teenager with multiple diagnosis, among some of them are Asperger’s, ADHD and Bipolar. He also has an unknown neurological disorder that is affecting his motor skills. Hopefully the doctors will be able to put a name to the disorder. My daughter is 5, and a complete sponge for knowledge. In many ways, she is a typical 5 year old and is looking forward to starting school in the fall. My boyfriend and I have known each other longer than most people are married. We met in elementary school in 1976. It was a magnet school for artistic children. We are just a bit more than a year apart in age, and were best friends even back then. Through several moves on my part, while growning up, we lost touch for a bit, then found each other at the same middle school just four years later. We dated in high school, lost touch, dated in our early twenties and lost touch again. Finally in our thirties, we decided that this was it, and we’ve been together ever since. This was no surprise to his family, and his grandmother told us she always knew we would end up together. (I suppose we were just being stubborn about it as usual.) We are also a multi-racial family with many colors of the ethnic rainbow.

What will you find in Talullah’s World?

Originally, I did start this blog as a fiber arts blog, but my life is about so much more than just that, as you can guess. Of course you will find postings here about fiber, knitting, spinning and all that goes with it, but you will also find my thoughts, my opinions and my feelings. Occassionally, you may even be treated to a bit of my sarcastic humor. This is a window into my life. Through my postings, I’m sure you will get to glimpse the me that most people never meet on the street.

There are only a few no-no’s here at Talullah’s World. I normally don’t discuss any of the following; Politics, Race, Religion, or Sexual Orientation. I have very strong opinions on all of these, (I am a very liberal person) but find that these topics lead to arguements, disagreements and flaming wars. I won’t tell anyone how to live and assume that all adults are old enough to decide if their life choices are suitable for them. Like my dad used to say, to each his own. Still, having said that, I’m sure there will be occassions where I might break my own rules.

I hope you enjoy my blog and that you will grace me with your return for another visit!

Yours in Peace,

Christine

Thank you for the Gift of Friendship pattern. I finished it up last night and it is being blocked as I speak for a raffle for our upcoming Relay for Life Event this weekend.
I had purple yarn here, which is the color of Relay. And it is so pretty. I will forward a copy of the photo when I get it off the blocking towel. Again, thank you.

I thought I had printed off your Friendship Scarf around the time it was first published; but now I cannot find my printed copy and cannot bring it up online.
Is there a reason your patterns are not able to be brought up?
I have two occasions for which I want to make it–a friend recently lost her husband and our upcoming Relay for Life event.
Hoping you will respond soon on this.
    Thank you.

    Jean

I’ve enjoyed looking through your blog-your intro about Tallulah was great and the story of how you and your boyfriend have known each other was neat too.
My story is also open-theres a reason…if you decided to read you see.
Unfortunantly the most recent post concerns a matter which took place over 35 years ago…an example of how things can go and grow over time.
Okay-some of it may seem politcal…it is NOT,with the exception of the reason why I write it everyday I can-the title easily explains it all.
Hey-have you ever been to John Campbell School in Brasstown NC? A wonderful craft school-for everybody,a really great place and great concept-its been there since 1926 and is mostly set up to teach Appalaician {sic} crafts-lots of yarn making and natural dies,really-an interesting place.
Thank you for giving me a visit-I liked your blog!

I'd love to hear from you!
