Queef

Some feminists like to say that acceptance of female body hair is the final taboo — the final frontier of body shaming if you will. Well, I take your armpit hair and raise you a queef.

A queef is the sound a vagina makes when it sucks in a bunch of air for no reason, and then blows it back out. This sound is loud, disruptive, and often vibrates. Unlike farts, queefs are irrepressible.

While I can hold in a fart until I want to throw up, I cannot suppress a queef. No vagina-baring woman can. In fact, like fairies, queefs almost always make an appearance when you least expect them to – after standing up too quickly, while inverted at any point during a yoga class, or (my favorite), during and after sex.

Whenever I queef a few thoughts run through my head like, “FUCK!!!” or “NO!!!” and maybe, “NOT AGAIN!!”

Vaginas are beautiful flowers and vessels of joy, so it only makes sense that they should possess some glaring flaw. I get it… but does it really have to be the curse of the queef? It freaks me out that vaginas make such a ratchet noise.

Even a gross heathen like myself feels completely mortified, horrified, disturbed, and betrayed when their vagina sounds off like a foghorn without permission. I can’t help but think that post-sex queefs are equivalent to my vagina shaming me, smugly scolding, “PPPFFTT!!! Yeah, that’s what you get you whore.”

I’m still trying to figure out whether it’s best to acknowledge a sex queef when it happens, or to ignore it. I texted a few of my friends to share their queef experiences with me (lol at boundaries), and to confess whether or not they gave a crap.

Basically what I learned is the softest sex can cause an air raid. The sound is always so aggressive and unnecessary no matter what. It’s like okay, we get it. We heard it.

Occasionally a random article will pop up in my Facebook feed titled “Weird Things That Happen During Sex” or something stupid, and queefs always rank among the list. The subsequent advice is always to laugh it off and make a joke about it because body positivity, blah blah whatever.

Question: What do you say when a queef happens during sex?

Remedies For Blackheads

After doing the list on home remedies for acne, I started getting a lot of questions about blackheads in particular. Common and annoying, blackheads occur when your pores become clogged with excess sebum, and dead skin cells. The difference between a black head and a white head is simply whether or not the pore is open or closed. If the pore is open, the plug of sebum/skin cells oxidizes as it is in contact with the oxygen in the air, which turns it black. Blackheads are not caused by dirt. Let’s make that clear from the beginning.

Scrubbing your face obsessively is not a good way to get rid of your blackheads, and is only going to make it worse as you’ll just end up drying out your skin, which will cause more oil to be created to make up for everything you stripped away, and…well it’s a vicious cycle. For this reason, don’t use some of these remedies more than 2-3 times a week, such as the sugar scrub and pore strips. I know it can be hard to resist, but your skin will be better off this way:

1. Clay Time

Bentonite clay is a mineral rich healing substance that has been used for centuries to treat a number of ailments, chiefly skin related. Because of its molecules “electrical charge” when wet, it does an amazing job of drawing out oils or other impurities locked in your pores. When you apply the mask your skin gets to drink in all the minerals, while the clay simultaneously draws out the blackhead. It also helps with circulation, which helps with overall skin tone and health. You can mix the clay with water or apple cider vinegar, maybe sticking to the former if you have dry or sensitive skin. Experiment! This mask will make you feel like your face is tightening as it dries.

2. Egg White Mask

Egg whites form an easy mask that can be used to temporarily tighten pores, thus reducing chances of future blackheads, and will also remove current blackheads. Egg whites are also rich in nutrients for your skin, and are a little less drying than some other home remedies for blackheads.

3. Honey and Milk Pore Strips

Milk and honey both have properties that are good for skin. Honey has antibacterial properties, and the lactic acid in milk is said to help keep skin soft and supple. The main purpose here though is, when mixed together, to act as an adhesive.

4. Cinnamon & Honey Strips

It sounds like a delicious candy, but cinnamon and honey make a wonderful combination for getting rid of blackheads. Again, the anti-bacterial agents in the honey can help keep away bacteria that are causing acne (not necessarily blackheads, but still a bonus) as well as act as the adhesive to pull out anything clogging your pores. Cinnamon improves circulation, and this increased blood flow gives your skin a smooth, healthy, glow.

5. H2O Daily Blackhead Treatment

While pore strips and face masks work wonders, they can only be used several times a week to avoid drying your skin out to much. If you want to do something daily to prevent your blackheads, a gentle rinsing with water 1-2 times a day is the way to go. This keeps things that can make your pores appear larger-such as excess sebum and dead skin-flushed away and your pores clear. Be sure to use a light moisturizer when you are done to prevent your skin from trying to produce excess sebum to accommodate for dryness.

6. Toner for Tighter Pores

Since blackheads are caused by open, clogged, pores reacting to oxygen, it only makes sense that “shrinking” your pores down will help. Lemon juice is just the astringent substance needed to get the job done, however, it can lighten skin temporarily and it does make you sensitive to the sun, so load up on sunscreen if you plan on using this method in the summertime. If you have sensitive skin, try diluting the lemon juice with water first.

Inner Thigh Cellulite

It is possible to reduce the appearance of cellulite. A combination of laser, massage, radio frequency, and suction treatments are available, but these remedies are pricey and only temporary. You’ll end up needing to fork over the moola for ongoing treatments in order to maintain your skin’s new look.

Don’t waste your money on cellulite lotions either since topical creams can’t penetrate the three layers of skin to eliminate the fat. What you can do is decrease overall body fat by doing calorie-burning cardio; try 60 minutes of cardio five times a week.

Unfortunately, cardio alone will not decrease the dimples. Flaccid muscle can increase the appearance of cellulite, so strength training is highly recommended.

Cellulite is more common in the lower body parts because everyone has natural layers of fat there. Here are exercises I use that helped me get rid of cellulite on my inner thighs. Note, while I cant speak for every woman out there, matter-fact I can only speak for me, so this is what I do:

Inner thigh squeeze for cellulite

For this Cellulite exercise of inner thighs, you will need an exercise ball. If your height is between 5”1 to 5”7, use a ball of 55 cm and if your height is between above that use a 75 cm exercising ball. Use a little deflated exercise ball for ease. Lie down on the floor and hold the ball between your thighs, while your legs are raised up in 90 degrees position. Apply only enough pressure to hold the ball between your legs. Once you have reached that position, now you press the ball with the inner thighs, applying as much pressure as you can. Repeat this exercise for at least 10 times. This exercise also targets the fat in your inner thighs.

Scissor Kicks for cellulite

Lie down on mat or the floor, keeping the legs straight in shoulder width distance and the hands straight on each side. Now lift one leg up, at least 5 to 7 inches up. Your leg should be diagonally straight, without bending from the knees. Now lift the other leg as well and move both legs back and forth, without letting you feet and legs touch the floor. Continue it for 30 seconds and then bring down both the legs and rest for 5 to 10 seconds. Take a deep breath and repeat the exercise again. Do at least 10 repetitions.

How To Lose Thigh Fat

This morning Amy Goldenberg, Consumer Research Analyst, SurveyStud, Inc, and I had a conversation about thigh fat–with the main point: Do women need to know how to lose thigh fat?

I mean we all have different body shapes, and pear-shaped women are more prone to having thigh fat than others. However, this doesn’t mean that anyone else is immune to the horrible title “thunder thighs.”

If you feel unhappy with your thighs and want to know how to lose thigh fat, there are several steps you can take to focus on losing weight around your legs. Losing weight around your legs is not only aesthetically pleasing, but it’d be healthier for your legs. So with that said, when we got back to the office, Amy gave me some data for the blogg:

1. CLIMB STAIRS

If it’s conceivable, avoid taking the elevator and climb stairs wherever you go to help lose thigh fat. This raises your metabolism and works your thigh muscles. This is a simple tip which doesn’t require you to drastically go out of your way to do, and is a great way to tone your leg muscles. To be the most effective, it’s best to use a good technique. Lean a little forward from the hips and keep your back straight.

2. JOG

Jogging is a lot easier than running, and one of the best forms of cardio exercise. It burns fat and calories and is also beneficial for your whole body. However, jogging may eventually hurt your knees and ankles so make sure you have good shoes or run on grass.

Generally the best time of day to jog is in the morning as there is more oxygen in the air which helps burn more calories.

3. CYCLE

Cycling is another great form of exercise that works your legs, especially your thighs.

This tip on how to lose thigh fat requires you to buy/use a bike, or go to the gym.

However, it would be worth it as you could also use it to save money on public transport or driving, which is also better for the environment.

Cycling builds stamina, endurance and is a great toning device for your legs!

4. WALK BRISKLY

Don’t just stroll when getting around to places, walking briskly is another way to lose thigh fat that doesn’t require any special effort.

Power-walking burns calories and trims down fat in areas more than just your legs.

5. SQUATS WHILE HOLDING WEIGHTS

This sounds horrid and strenuous but is one of the most effective ways to lose thigh fat.

Grab some manageable weights in each hand (a bottle of 500ml water would do), bend your knees with your back straight at a 90 degree angle and repeat.

Do this slowly and carefully, until you feel your thighs burn!

Do this regularly and expect toned leg muscles in no time.

Morning Wood

I read an article about a couple having sexual problems because the husband was not able to obtain an erection in the morning.

I thought this would be an interesting topic, so I reached out to Amy Goldenberg, Consumer Research Analyst, SurveyStud, Inc, and this is what the data indicate.

Many people assume a morning erection is a sign of sexual stimulation, however this isn’t always the case. Morning wood is likely the response his body has to one of several natural occurrences.

Goldenberg mentioned, during his waking hours, his body releases hormones to suppress erections. When he’s asleep, his body releases less of those hormones. Combine this fact with the other reasons he may experience an erection in his sleep, and nocturnal penile tumescence (NPT) becomes more likely.

What’s clearer is what doesn’t cause morning wood. For example, needing to urinate isn’t responsible for morning wood. Some people believe a morning erection keeps them from urinating during their sleep, but this is not true. Morning wood also isn’t always a sign of sexual stimulation. In many cases, NPT isn’t caused by dreams or thoughts of a sexual nature.

Having an erect penis when you wake is an indicator of healthy blood and nerve supply to the penis. The presence of  NPT also likely indicates that you’re physically capable of getting and maintaining an erection while awake.

If you stop experiencing NPT or notice that you’re not waking up with an erect penis anymore, this may be an early sign of an underlying medical problem.

Most likely, this is a sign of physical erectile dysfunction (ED). You may have something happening within your body that’s preventing adequate blood or nerve supply for proper erectile function. You may be more likely to experience ED if you:

– are overweight
– have high blood pressure
– have high cholesterol levels
– have diabetes
– have depression
– Certain physical disabilities may also make ED more likely.

Medications may also affect your ability to experience morning wood. Painkillers and some antidepressant medications may prevent NPT.

NPT may become less common as you get older, but if you’re young and are not experiencing a morning erection or if your erections suddenly stop, it may be time to see your doctor.

Who gets morning wood?

Men of all ages can experience NPT. It’s healthy at any age and is a sign of a properly functioning blood and nervous system in and around the penis. Young boys may experience NPT as young as 6 to 8 years old. NPT may also occur in men in their 60s and 70s. It will become less frequent as ED issues begin to occur, and those issues become more frequent with age.

Men may experience an erection three to five times each night. Unrelated to what’s in your dreams, NPT can last up to and even longer than 30 minutes. Some men may experience an erection as long as two hours during their sleep. Most erections will ease within a few minutes of waking up.

You stop having morning wood

If you frequently experienced morning wood but now aren’t experiencing it at all or have fewer erections, you should talk with your doctor. While it’s natural for episodes of NPT to occur less frequently with age, a sudden drop in frequency may be a sign of an underlying medical problem.

Bottom line

Morning wood is very common. It’s an indication of normal blood and nerve supply to the penis. Most young men will experience morning wood several times per week. As men grow older, however, they begin experiencing it less frequently.

If you stop experiencing NPT, this may be an early sign of an underlying medical problem. Pay attention to how often you experience morning wood and if it stops, speak with your doctor.

Carbs & Weight Loss

Eating Carrots reducing the amount of carbohydrates in your diet is one of the best ways to lose weight.

It tends to reduce your appetite and cause “automatic” weight loss, without the need for calorie counting or portion control. This means that you can eat until fullness, feel satisfied and still lose weight.

Why Would You Want to do Low-Carb?

For the past few decades, the health authorities have recommended that we eat a calorie restricted, low-fat diet. The problem is that this diet doesn’t really work. Even when people manage to stick to it, they don’t see very good results.

An alternative that has been available for a long time is the low-carb diet. This diet restricts your intake of carbohydrates like sugars and starches (breads, pasta, etc.) and replaces them with protein and fat.
Studies show that low-carb diets reduce your appetite and make you eat fewer calories and lose weight pretty much effortlessly, as long as you manage to keep the carbs down.

In studies where low-carb and low-fat diets are compared, the researchers need to actively restrict calories in the low-fat groups to make the results comparable, but the low-carb groups still usually win.

Low-carb diets also have benefits that go way beyond just weight loss. They lower blood sugar, blood pressure and triglycerides. They raise HDL (the good) and improve the pattern of LDL (the bad) cholesterol.

Low-carb diets cause more weight loss and improve health much more than the calorie restricted, low-fat diet still recommended by the mainstream.

Chafing A Runner’s Nightmare

Chafing is the runner’s constant companion. No matter what the season, there’s always the risk of red, irritated, raw-feeling thighs (and that’s just one common area for runners). Some people are more prone to it than others — but fortunately, there’s no shortage of solutions to this dreaded issue.

We spoke with Amy Goldenberg, Consumer Research Analyst, at SurveyStud, inc about this topic, and she gave us some insite on runners chafing.

Goldenberg recommended to start by staying hydrated while you run — not only is it important for your health, but salt crystals left behind when you stop sweating and the perspiration dries actually become an irritant.

She gave us five key recommnedations to stop the irritation of runner thighs while running:

1. Proper Clothing

Goldenburg mentioned too often, running clothes are at least part of the problem when it comes to irritated thighs. Seams on shorts can rub up against skin and exacerbate the issue. If your running shorts are the culprit, try switching to another pair, one that’s a bit longer. As an alternative, you can try wearing a pair of compression shorts, which tend to be a bit longer, under your running shorts.

Material choice is important, too: Cotton shorts are a bad idea, because once they’re wet, they stay wet. Synthetic fabrics with moisture-wicking properties, such as Lycra or Spandex, are a much, much better option.

2. Lubricants, Gels, and Balms

Chaffing on the thigh from a trail runA gel-like lubricant on your thighs can ease friction and reduce chafing while running. Petroleum jelly is an inexpensive, widely available option that works well, but you can also find more specialized products for runners, including BodyGlide, Run-Goo (and its sibling product Hike-goo), as well as Red11 (originally meant for nipple chafing, it can also be used on thighs). This can be a slightly messier solution than other alternatives

3. Powder

If gels and lubricants aren’t to your preference, some powder products can also stop thighs from chafing during your run. Baby powder (or talcum powder) is a simple no-frills option. More specialized products include Lush’s Silky Underwear or Anti-Monkey Butt powder, which also has a ladies’ variant.

4. Bandelettes

Bandelettes are a great option to prevent thigh chafing while running. Made from a soft synthetic microfiber, they are specially designed to prevent skin irritation caused by the friction of skin on skin or even skin on fabric. Bandelettes won’t slide down your thighs thanks to nonslip silicone. They only cover the area that needs to be covered, making them a more comfortable, breathable option, especially in warm weather. Unisex bandelettes area available in either black or beige, in a variety of sizes.

5. Proper After-Care

Taking care of your legs after a run will also help minimize your discomfort. Start by showering as soon as possible, in lukewarm water. Hot water and chafed thighs is just a recipe for pain! Pat your skin dry — don’t rub — to minimize irritation. And then be sure to follow up by moisturizing your skin with a good lotion, coconut oil or shea butter. If you are dealing with raw, irritated skin, skip the moisturizing step and instead go for a diaper rash cream like Desitin or A+D Zinc Oxide cream. It sounds crazy, but the active ingredient is zinc oxide, which makes it antibacterial as well as soothing.

As usual if this seems plagiarized that’s because it probably is–So if you see something that yours let us know and we will remove it.
