About

Hey there! I’m currently leading AI & Machine Learning at Eight Sleep, where we are building the next generation of Health and Fitness AI. We work at the intersection of physiology, behavior, and intelligent systems – developing biometric models, decision and recommendation engines, and health foundation models that advance personalized wellness and sleep performance. At Eight Sleep, we’re fortunate to be supported by world-class investors – HSG (formerly Sequoia Capital China), Valor Equity Partners, Founders Fund, Khosla Ventures, and Y Combinator – and to have been recognized by Fast Company as one of the Most Innovative Companies in 2019, 2022, and 2023. We’re growing our AI/ML, MLOps, and Data Science teams, and I’m always happy to connect with people passionate about building intelligent, human-centered health technology.

Before joining Eight Sleep, I spent several years at Apple, where I led engineering efforts in the AI/ML organization focused on natural language understanding for Siri. My work there centered on using data science and applied machine learning to deepen Siri’s linguistic intelligence and make its interactions more natural and useful for millions of users.  Earlier in my career, I worked as a data scientist and consultant at Monitor 360, the former analytics and government venture practice of the Monitor Group.

I earned my Ph.D. in Electrical & Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, where I was advised by Prof. Barry Silverman in the Ackoff Collaboratory for Advancement of the Systems Approach. My research explored agent-based modeling, network science, and decision theory, with a focus on the dynamics of coalitions in regions of conflict.
