Tuesday Motes, On The Road Again

Not education, indoctrination:  The mother of a Washington State middle schooler has gone viral for a video showing her pulling her daughter from the school following an anti-ICE walkout. The video shows the mother walking into the school as students stream out and gather on the front lawn. While the school staff attempted to justify what was going on, the mother wasn’t having it, noting that the protest was disrupting her daughter’s education. Once inside the building, she told the school administrators that she wanted to immediately withdraw her child, saying, “I am here to pull my child from the school right now.” And they WERE surprised. Good for you Mom. Well done.

Think Minneapolis DayCare  shocked you : Nearly 4,000 daycares have discovered in a 20 mile radius around Boston Massachusetts There are “clusters” of condos and homes that are registering themselves as daycares Americans can’t even fathom the theft and money laundering taking place nationwide. They are ALL receiving state/fed money.  Wonder how many of them are actually paying taxes. Why are any of us paying taxes. I told ya, it’s gonna get much worse.

UNneeded, UNwanted, The United Nations is at risk of “imminent financial collapse” due to member states not paying their fees, the body’s head has warned. He wrote in a letter to all 193 member states that they had to honour their mandatory payments or overhaul the organization’s financial rules to avoid collapse. It comes after the UN’s largest contributor, the US, refused to contribute to its regular and peacekeeping budgets, and withdrew from several agencies it called a “waste of taxpayer dollars”. It has existed far beyond it’s usefulness.

Only goes one direction: Liberals and politicians are crying “Greenland is for Greenlanders only”. If I claim America is for Americans only, I’M the racist.

Monday Motes, Living On The Road My Friend

They don’t represent you: Once again the representatives from Hawaii vote for the “Auto Kill” switch bill. This bill requires all new vehicles have a remotely activated kill switch installed. U.S. law says you are innocent until proved guilty. The “presumption of innocence” is the cornerstone of American justice. Installing this switch says someday, some way, you ARE/WILL BE guilty of something, and they will have to stop your vehicle. This is the “presumption of guilt” and totally against American jurisprudence. And Hawaii’s “representatives” are all for it.

Movie review: Watched the “Wrecking Crew” this weekend. Dave Bautista and Jason Mamoa. A whole lot of F bombs and tattoos. So many, many F bombs. I didn’t think it was possible to exaggerate “local boy” but they managed to do just that. Funny is spots, hilarious in others, it’s a good “forget reality” afternoon beer and snack movie. But sooo many F bombs.

W T F: U.S. District Judge Margaret M. Garnett dismissed two of the four federal counts against Mangione: murder through use of a firearm, which carries a potential death sentence, and a related firearms offense. Garnett left in place two federal stalking counts, which carry a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. Garnett ruled that the murder charge was technically flawed. It can be used only in tandem with a “crime of violence.” The prosecution argued that Mangione’s alleged stalking of Thompson met that standard. Garnett disagreed. But then the “judge” kept the stalking charge, you know, the one he said didn’t meet the standard. So, since there is no murder charge, they’re going to charge him with following someone around. Huh???

Huh?: So, Rand Paul wants all of us to worknto70 before we can draw on the Social Security we’ve been paying into for 40-50 years, but Congress can draw lifetime pensions AND full medical after being in office for 5 years during which they work 9 months of each year. Did I get that right?

Hope you had a beautiful Snow Moon Saturday night. If you could see the moon that is.

Just so we are perfectly clear where I stand:

Sunday Rant – D T I – Words To Remember

25 Jan 26

“We find comfort among those who agree with us- growth among those who don’t”

Frank A Clark

Secrets of continuous good health!

In the wake of the second federal fatal OIS in MN, I have a need to reiterate the obvious:

Among those of us who don’t want to get shot, nor otherwise suffer preventable injury,

1) Don’t go to stupid places!  “Begging the question” is a sure formula for a short life, as we see!

2) Don’t associate with, nor find yourself among, stupid people.  Stupid people don’t live very long.  Make it a point to find better friends!

3) Don’t participate in stupid and dangerous activities (along with other stupid people).  Neither minding other peoples’ business, nor aggressively injecting yourself into dangerous confrontations in which you were not otherwise involved, nor “begging the question” in general are consistent with long life!

4) Don’t fail “The Attitude Test” Be always polite, courteous, non-confrontational, boring, particularly when you find yourself in dangerous circumstances.  Separate and exit the area immediately, without comment.  Don’t look for ways to make people angry with you.  You may be far more successful than you ever imagined, as we see!

Finally, what is beyond amazing is the Jack-in-the-Box appearance of virtually every Democrat hypocrite suddenly, indeed hysterically, defending (of all things):

A) The righteousness of possession, and concealed carrying by “ordinary citizens,” of handguns for personal defensive purposes

B) The possession and carrying by “ordinary citizens” of “high capacity magazines”

C) Legal, productive, tax-paying American citizens, who actually work for a living

Wow, am I confused!

I wonder if Democrats’ ever-active PR machine will ever be able to cram this sudden flip-flop, this pro-CCW, pro-RKBA, and pro productive, tax-paying, legal American citizen genie back into the bottle.

/John

Saturday Story

Memories of An Ugly Place

I remember an ugly place from when I was a boy.

It was near the first house my parents bought. It was a working class neighborhood north of Seattle. Nobody was rich, but not really poor. A neighborhood of Boeing workers and their families, Korean War vets and the sons and daughters of World War Two soldiers now grown and starting families of their own. A pleasant enough place to grow up in the 1950’s.

But I remember one specific place. It was just blocks from our small home, a large fenced in area, surrounded by not one but two fences. They were six or eight feet apart and at least ten feet high. Both fences were topped with barbed wire, on the inner the wire faced outward and on the outer it faced inward. One to keep people out, the other to keep them inside.

It seemed like a forbidden park. There were lots of trees and paths you could see from the outside. If you went all the way around you would see the gates and guards, and the Quonset huts for the offices and homes for those who lived and worked inside.

As kids we had to pass the fence almost every day. There were all kinds of stories about who was inside that fenced area. Some parent said it was an asylum for the insane. Some others would tell you it was for “special” criminals. And there were only men. You never saw any women.

One look at these emaciated “inmates” and you truly did not know what story to believe. They reminded me of some pictures I had seen, in LIFE Magazine, of the camps of WW II and how the people looked when the Allies finally freed them.

There were no guard towers, but there were men walking around the paths during the daytime. At night you could sometimes see the glow of flashlights as the guards walked the grounds. They didn’t carry guns and wore white clothes, but they were guards just the same.

My early morning paper route took me down one side of the fence every day. Since I made my deliveries at 5 am, I seldom saw any of the people that lived “inside the fence”. Often on the way to school and on the way home, I would see them walking, silently, the paths of the wooded area. Sometimes, one would stand near the inside fence and just stare out at the passing cars, the yards, and the children on bicycles. Sometimes they would stand there until one or two of the white clothed guards would come, whisper in their ear, and walk them away into the trees. No kid, at least none I ever knew, claimed to have talked with any of the men.

Not even Paul, the kid everyone knew was “crazy” and mostly avoided as much as possible. Truth be known, I think even he was afraid.

It was their eyes I could never seem to avoid. They had a look that frightened me and I didn’t know why. As a child I just thought they were “scary”. I didn’t know why they scared me, but they did. The problem was every time I saw one of them standing by the fence, I had to look.

The men walking the paths wore blue cloth coats, blue pants that looked like pajama bottoms, and cloth slippers, just like the ones I wore on the house during the winter. It wasn’t until years later I realized it was hospital clothing.

It was a hospital, and a prison. I was much older when I learned that was the way they treated vets who came back home from Korea with TB and other “illness’” they couldn’t cure. Even with that knowledge, I never forgot the haunted look in the eyes of those men. I also never forgot the nightmares when their eyes would visit me in my warm childhood bed.

But I grew up. I went to war and returned.  Now my children have children of their own.

The memory of that ugly place has never gone away.

Friday Motes, Made It

Who’s the real Nazi: Democrat Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner spoke at an anti-ICE rally at City Hall Tuesday where he vowed to hunt down ICE agents “for decades”. Krasner said that he is teaming up with state prosecutors to deliver “accountability” to ICE agents enforcing the federal government’s immigration laws. Krasner made the remarks as Philadelphia City Councilmembers Kendra Brooks and Rue Landau introduced a sweeping package of bills aimed at sharply limiting how ICE can operate within city limits. Hunt down a kill your political enemies. Excuse Mister D.A., but isn’t that what “REAL” Nazi’s do? That would make you a … Nazi… woudn’t it?

We’ve all heard of the suitcases of cash that flew out of Minneapolis airport. Last week the Warrior Queen and I had a late Christmas with the kids and grandkids in Honolulu. She won a “Magi Bullet” in the secret Santa. We were only there for 2 days so we had no check-in baggage. I has “removed” from the line, my carry-on suitcase open and I was told, loudly, “NO BLADES” and escorted out of the TSA line. Yes, the four 5/8” chopper blades built into the base bottom of the blender set them off. I told them, it’s still boxed, the box has never even been opened. Again, a little louder, “NO BLADES” and then I was met by a sheriff and taken to baggage check-in. And I went through the whole TSA experience again.  Boy, wait ‘til I open my daycare, I won’t accept their kids.

Figures don’t lie: For the record; 23% of ALL ICE arrests occur in Texas; 2.2% occur in Minnesota; there is little to no violence at the Texas ICE arrests. Why? Maybe because Demorats are promoting and provoking violence in “sanctuary” Minnesota. Demorats keep demanding “the right” tone down the rhetoric but they are funding these “protesters”. That shat don’t go in Texas.

How do they do it: Rep. Ilhan Omar’s latest financial disclosure shows a California winery co-owned by her husband, Tim Mynett, and his partner William Hailer, skyrocketed in value. It went from $15,000 in 2022 to $50,000 by 2023, then to as much as $5,000,000 in just one year. The winery, eStCru LLC, has almost no online presence. It has no active phone lines, dark social media, and no visible wine production. The building it’s housed in is allegedly not a working winery. Other than that, there’s nothing to suspect that it is serving as a money-laundering shell company. Maybe she and her husband should start teaching others on how to do this. Hell, I can see it now, “Chez’ Storyteller Cabernet”. Yuummm.

This is volcanic ash and those really fine strands are “Pele’s Hair”, volcanic glass, from the Saturday eruption. Yes, it’s freakin’ everywhere.

Thursday Motes, Get It Together

Where was the vigil for Ashley: Advocates and lawmakers gathered at the Hawaii State Capitol on Tuesday for a vigil honoring Alex Pretti, one of two American citizens shot and killed by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis this month. I believe our “representatives” sympathy’s are misplaced. You go to a protest, you know there will be cops there, cops are armed, you know you are going to “mix it up” with those cops because that’s what you do, and you bring your gun, extra magazines, but not your license, and something happens. For every action there are rewards and, times like this, consequences. Sorry Mr. Pretti, as I have said before, that is just a recipe for “Death By Stupid”.

Review: “Best Medicine”. A poor remake of “Northern Exposure” only not funny, not quirky, and not watchable. We lasted 3 episodes.

No hole deep or dark enough: Rangers at Yellowstone National Park are reportedly trying to solve the mystery of what happened to a well-known female wolf from one of the area’s most famous packs — and the leading theory is that she was illegally shot and killed by poachers. Wolf 1478F, who went missing on Christmas Day after officials got a “mortality signal” from its tracking collar, according to advocacy groups and officials from the park. A $31,000 reward has been put out for information. Investigators tried to find her carcass, but found nothing but her collar, which was severed and tossed into a tree. To the individual involved, there is a hole in hell deep or dark enough for you. None.

The signal is not secure: Andy Ngo, a citizen journalist known for his unmasking of Antifa activists and their violent tactics, infiltrated some radical left Signal groups in Minnesota and discovered the rampant paranoia among the activists who didn’t trust anyone, especially other activists. Remember, if there are more than 5 involved, 3 are law enforcement and one is a snitch. Three can keep a secret, if 2 are dead. Heh Heh Heh

Pot calling the kettle, and so on: Washed-up 1980s actress Molly Ringwald has declared the Trump administration a full-blown “fascist government” and warned that anyone supporting the president’s policies, especially on immigration, will be branded as traitors and face punishment once Democrats gain power. Wow. Revenge. Killing your political enemies.  Hey Molly, is that what real fascists do? So that makes you…. a fascist. Right.

Wednesday Motes, Tripping Here

Great news: Jackie and Shadow, the viral bald eagle love birds whose lives are broadcast to thousands of viewers worldwide, have officially entered the 2026 nesting season with the arrival of two new eggs. Jackie laid her first egg of the year just after 4 p.m. local time on Friday, January 23, according to the nonprofit Friends of Big Bear Valley (FOBBV).Following her historical pattern, she delivered a second egg on the evening of Monday, January 26. Experts note that bald eagles can lay anywhere from one to five eggs per clutch. You can check on themand their follow the journey in real-time by tuning into the Friends of Big Bear Valley 24/7 livestream on YouTube.

Just askin”: If ICE is so untrained and out of control, how come Minneapolis is the only city in which we are seeing these tragedies? Could it be the leadership of Minnesota is encouraging miscreants to break the law terrorize the city and impede law enforcement for their own election/fraud purposes? Just askin’ for a friend with a paranoid view of life.

Great imagery wasted: Budweiser is celebrating 150 years of making beer in the U.S. by featuring two “American icon” animals in its 2026 Super Bowl ad. In the ad, marking the 48th Super Bowl commercial appearance by Budweiser Clydesdales, a down-on-its-luck eaglet befriends a Clydesdale foal. The commercial is set to Lynyrd Skynyrd’s rocking epic, “Free Bird.” According to Budweiser, one of the farmers featured in the 2026 Super Bowl ad is Brian Fransen, a real-life Budweiser barley farmer. I’ll probably record the event and watch the ad later. Yeah, I know it’s the “Superbowl” but the NFL has gone waaay to “woke” for me and there is a “My Mother The Car” marathon that day.

Hummm: Anti-ICE protesters have a “watch” group that reports where agents are, whether they are on duty or off duty, they make no difference. They have threatened agent’s families and K-9’s. counter-intel has now been activated and recently a group of “protesters” (and I use that term very very loosely) were sent to a drinking establishment thinking they were going to harass and possibly assault a group of off duty agents. Unfortunately, for them, they ended up running their mouths at a “biker” bar. It did not end well for them. Bikers may not like the cops, but they hate loud obnoxious azzhooles even more. Opps.

Anywhere, anytime: A large fight that spanned several blocks caused the temporary shutdown of a street in Hilo Thursday. The violence began at about 3:45 p.m. at Mohouli Park, then spread to Mohouli and Hema streets. A large fight that spanned several blocks caused the temporary shutdown of a street in Hilo Thursday. The violence began at about 3:45 p.m. at Mohouli Park, then spread to Mohouli and Hema streets. a witness who wanted to remain anonymous said, “I see them brawling and they all had machetes, bats, and it was crazy because there was a school bus of kids right there, you know, and there was a long line of cars,”. It can happen anytime and anyplace, do not stick around, remember Reginald Denny, that’s him on the ground after they dropped a cinder block on his head.

If you get caught at something like this, get the hell out anyway you can; do not stop for pictures, and keep moving away.

Tuesday Motes, Whoaaaa

Just a reminder: Remember just a few months ago when Elon was running D.O.G.E. and uncovering fraud left and right? People were burning cars, and showrooms because it was sooo “unamerican”? Remember when the A.G. promised arrests were “forthcoming”? Hey Pammy, sweety, what happened to those “forth coming” arrests? Asking for a friend.

FA  FO: You go to a protest, you know there will be cops there, cops are armed, you know you are going to “mix it up” with those cops, and you bring your gun, extra magazines, but not your license. Sorry Mr. Pretti, that just a recipe for “Death By Stupid”.

A sad Good Bye: Kaylin Gawf, 28, died surrounded by family and loved ones on Jan. 16. She was a 28-year-old single mother from Oklahoma who raised more than $300,000 for her own funeral. Gawf was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer three years ago. Just two weeks before Christmas, doctors discovered the cancer had spread to Gawf’s brain and bones. She was told she had six weeks to live and had only weeks left to spend with her family and her two children. Before her death, the-28-year-old set up  a GoFundMe account that would help cover her own funeral expenses and provide financial support for her children. She leaves behind her two children, ages 9 and 6. She sits at the Table of Heroes.

Get the whole story, first: An ordinary evening on the slopes turned terrifying when a female skier was attacked by a snow leopard. Video from the scene shows the aftermath of the encounter, with the skier lying face down in the snow wearing a purple ski suit after being mauled.  Snow leopards are known for their elusive behavior, making close encounters with humans extremely uncommon. Sounds terrible don’t it? Getting the whole story; Chinese authorities recently warned visitors about multiple snow leopard sightings in the region. “Snow leopards are large predators with strong aggressive tendencies,” the warning said. “When passing through this area, please move quickly and do not linger.” This “skier” decided to photograph this predator in the wild, approached with 10 feet, and now cries “Oh it attacked me”. It’s your own damn fault.

By now you heard that our volcano blew its top of a little while on Saturday night. Spewed ash ad volcanic glass (Pele’s Hair).

This is the roof of my car afterwards. The glass is very, very fine, but will pierce your skin very easily.

Monday Motes, Short

It ain’t just “Minnesoda”: A reporter has traveled to the state of Maine and uncovered more possible fraud. He highlighted one particular building that is supposedly home to ten Somali-owned home healthcare companies, yet when he interviewed the landlord, he said that there is never anyone there. He then interviews a local newspaper reporter who points out various locations that are also supposedly home healthcare companies, which just so happen to be next door to businesses that can wire money to Somalia. Stand by for more stories, from more states, lots more.

Hawaii does things at a slooowwwer rate: The Hawaiʻi attorney general reversed course on Tuesday, announcing she will take up the case of a Hawaiʻi lawmaker who was recorded accepting $35,000 in a paper bag from the subject of a bribery investigation in 2022. Public scrutiny has grown since reporters revealed the handoff’s existence last year. As the public calls for transparency and accountability mounted, the issue became a hot political issue and the subject of rampant speculation. The clock is ticking on the statute of limitations to file state charges. This has become so public they just can’t ignore it anymore. Don’t worry, nothing will happen. It’ll business as usual.

Headlines : ICE does this. ICE does that.

carview.php?tsp=

Anybody remember this? Where was the outrage? What cities burned?

Spent the weekend in Honolulu for a late family Christmas. More tomorrow.

Sunday Rant

Lots of “polls” in the news lately. “Polls” show this, that, and then the opposite.

Survey researchers, not typically known for their humor, have an old joke that goes, “If you don’t believe in random sampling, the next time you have a blood test, tell the doctor to take it all.” The analogy of a small sample of a patient’s blood drives home the point that if selected properly, all that is needed to get a president’s job approval rating (or a cholesterol count) is a sample. Think about a chef who tastes a sauce. If the sauce is well stirred, the chef can try just a spoonful rather than eating the entire potful to assess its flavor. A wonderful theory.

Let’s look a little deeper. The poll was conducted by the Washington Post in connection with ABC News. Not exactly “non-biased” sources.

Look a little more, they based this conclusion on the responses from 1,004 “respondents”. One thousand and four people. Or .0000030424 percent of the US population. Yeah, that’s a real cross section of the voter base. The pollsters will go into deep long explanations on how this is the perfect “random” sample.

There is just one tiny problem as I see it. In working with the Hawaii Legislature on/against mandatory helmets and other motorcycle laws, I found that a poll will say whatever the person/group paying for it wants it to say. How do I know? I’ve done it.

The response to a poll depends on where you ask the questions, when you ask them, and how you ask them. These three things can be slanted and used to prove whatever you want the poll to prove. Example? Okay.

I go to an “upper income” area church, on a Sunday morning, and I ask the first 100 adults walking out of that church the following question: “Because of the increased injury level when being in an accident and for their own safety, should motorcyclists be required to wear a helmet full time, regardless of their age, training, or experience level in operating a motorcycle?”

I’m willing to bet I’d get an 85% “YES” response. Plus, or minus 3% of course. The headline would read, “Majority In Favor Of Helmet Laws”.

Now I go to the local strip club area, on a Friday night to Saturday morning (early), and I ask 50 people going into the clubs, and 50 people coming out of the clubs the following question: “Should bikers, for their own good, be forced to wear a helmet all the time?”

Want to bet against “NO” being the majority answer? Me either.  This headline would read, well let’s face it, there wouldn’t be a headline, it wouldn’t fit the narrative.

See, location, timing, and phrasing.

A poll shows exactly what the buyer wants it to say. It shows nothing more, and often a lot less.
