Don’t let the title fool you: this is decidedly not inspirational fiction. Inspy readers would probably be offended by the language, irreverent humor, sex, and violence—not to mention the trans attorney who defends my main character in court.

I loved Ivey’s first book, Snow Child. So when I learned she’s going to be the featured author at North Words Writers Symposium in Skayway in May, I ordered her second book. I’ve also pre-ordered Black Woods, Blue Sky, which is being released next week!

Recovering from illness

This last six months has been rough! I had a horrible respiratory virus in August, and the entire family got Covid in September. The first week of November, I had surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome, and one of the incisions infected, so that took forever to heal. Over the holidays, we visited family in Washington State, and shortly after we got home, we all came down with Influenza Type A! This one is brutal. I was laid flat for three weeks, and I still haven’t fully recovered my stamina.
