Hello
I work in the area of computational linguistics—what that means is that I am trying to find the computational machinery needed for producing and understanding natural languages. That involves discovering how is language represented, processed and learned both by humans and machines. Naturally, it also has a great number of important practical applications. Here is a non-exhaustive list of topics I'm interested in:
- Machine Learning: Latent Variable Models and Probabilistic Inference over Structures
- Linguistics: Incremental Language Processing, Language Universals, Formal Grammars
- Applications: Machine Translation, Sign Language Generation and LLMs in general
If you are a UCL student
If you want to meet with me in person I'm usually available on Thursdays.Send me an email that you want to meet and pick a time slot here.
Unless I mention differently, meetings will be in Office 112 in Chandler House.
If you want to do PhD with me
A prerequisite for collaboration is the alignment of our research interests (please see the bullet points detailed above). If you are uncertain about this alignment, feel free to contact me.
If our interests converge, I would be happy to support your application for research funding within one of the following opportunities assuming you fulfill the other conditions of the funding agency:
