Robotics research collaboration for transformative societal impact
OUR MISSION:
The Stanford Robotics Center brings together cross-disciplinary world-class researchers and industrial affiliates with a shared vision of robotics’ future. Its unique collaborative facility supports large-scale innovative projects for transformative impact on people and the planet.
6 RESEARCH BAYS
The SRC offers researchers a facility with bays mirroring real-world settings dedicated to Flagship Projects in each of its principal areas. Current bays are provisioned for Robots & Art, Human-Robot Interaction, Assistive Robotics, Domestic Robotics, Medical Robotics, Field Robotics, Manufacturing & Future of Work, and Underwater Robotics.

5 AREAS OF STUDY
The SRC focuses on 5 principal areas of study: Field Robotics, Domestic Robotics, Medical Robotics, the Future of Work, and Education/Culture. This allows us to anticipate and deliver solutions to society’s coming needs as robot systems enter more closely into our daily lives.
FLAGSHIP PROJECTS
The Center’s efforts will be pursued in each of these 5 Areas through Flagship Projects involving researchers with multi-disciplinary expertise, working together with industry to develop transformative applications addressing real-world challenges. Flagship projects include Underwater Robotics, SOAR (Stanford Older Adult Robotics), and R2C2: Rapidly reprogrammable configurable cells.
CORE TECHNOLOGIES
Many of the best results in robotics apply beyond a single application domain. The SRC is currently focusing on:
Agentic Orchestration
Developing a system of multiple, heterogeneous robots working together in concert to achieve an objective.
OpenSAI on ROS
SAI is the result of years of work in the Stanford Robotics Lab. OpenSAI, the open source version, has been released by the SRC.
TECHNICAL ACTIVITIES & COMMUNITY
The SRC brings multidisciplinary researchers together with people from visionary companies to advance robotics. We organize many events designed to build and strengthen the Stanford Robotics Community.
Events include Friday Robotics Seminars, Special Seminars, Faculty Events, Summer Student Research program, Workshops, Tutorials & Platforms.
