THE SONIC ABYSS
Abysmal Information
To All,
I can’t imagine life without music, and this site exists solely to pay tribute to the unsung bands who have written (and some of whom continue to write) the soundtrack to my life. I’ve never considered myself a critic and still don’t. To quote Peter Gabriel, “I know what I like and I like what I know.”
I can’t think of a better way to say “Thank you” to these bands than to rave about them like the obsessed fan that I am. After all, they already have my money! hahahahahahaha
I hope you all enjoy my syntactical rants, and I hope you’ll take the time to explore at least some of this music for yourself. And I hope you love it as much as I do.
Cheers,
Mark Boyd
P.S. The name you see on the blog, “Moosejuice,” refers to my on-air name when I was working in radio back in the 90’s for a classic-rock-turned-alternative/modern rock station in Baton Rouge, LA called 100.7 The Tiger (WTGE-FM). I have a lot of fond (and not-so-fond) memories of this time and was exposed to some of the music in the Sonic Abyss during my radio days. Crazy part of it is that I couldn’t really appreciate a lot of this music until I stopped working in radio. You see, when you work for a radio station your job is to promote music, so you’re constantly innundated with new music on a daily basis…too much to really keep up with properly. For this reason, I often say that the best thing that ever happened to me as a FAN of good music is that I got out of the radio business.

Mr Bill, thank you for returning to the Abyss. Jared is one of my favorite drummers, period, and I think CTE is just one of those magic bands where everyone brings a sense of intuitive style to each song. The DMC and I were joking a week ago about how we’ll each have a different favorite CTE song every week. lol I swear I’ve tried to overplay this disc at home and in my car, and I’ve reached the conclusion that I’ll never get tired of these songs. And “Ain’t No Rest…” is an instant classic in my world. Cheers to you, your family and the CTE family. I hope 2010 brings even more happiness:) Cheers!
