Happy Father’s Day, Dad
Many moons ago, in one of the college classes I was in, the professor liked to spring pop-up essay writing from time to time. One particular time, he walked in late, slammed his stuff on the dais and said, “Everyone get some thoughts together about the most influential person in your life and write about it. Don’t go nuts. You have 15 minutes.”
This was mine.
A Person of Influence in My Life
This one person would have to be my father, believe it or not. From having three of my own sons alive and kicking today, I can and do appreciate the guidance that my father was giving me all of my life, unbeknownst to me. I also hope and pray that I am passing on these same influences to my own sons…one can only hope.
You see, as a lad and an adolescent, my father was the dumbest man alive. He knew nothing at all and had absolutely no idea or concept what I was going through. All during those years he would just smile, quote some scripture from time and time as well as some Mark Twain. I thought my father had gone insane. Yes, I got in trouble at times and was punished, as I should have been but, at the time, I was being abused…or so my story went. The abuse I was suffering from, looking back, was trying to point me in right and just directions. My father did not want me to go astray too far and come into the attention of cops and courts.
My father taught me common courtesy, a rather rare commodity these days. He taught me common sense, another rare commodity. He taught me to pay attention to “the still small voice” speaking to me. This he called the conscience and at times, God’s voice. I ignored that voice and every time, it resulted in a bad happenstance, eventually. I still listen to that voice, not as often as I should but I do hear it and I do heed the quiet advice.
My father also told me to harness the brain power that “the Lord has bestowed upon you”. I thought he was a loon! Later on in life, he was right…again. I have been given a gift and I use it most of the time.
He taught me that in all things, consider “the next fellow”. “How will what you are doing right now, in this instance, affect the next guy?” I often did not care and he said upon many occasions how wrong that comment was. Again, through the years, this bit of advice was proven true time and time again. I have tried and I keep trying to instruct my own sons in this same concept of caring for the next guy but, it seems to be falling on deaf ears. Alas, I can only hope and pray that one day, my sons, one by one, will come to realize the truth in that message. I must have driven my father nuts, as my sons drive me nuts now.
My father taught me honesty, integrity and pride. He taught me that in all things be honest. This he said builds integrity and people will be able to trust you in all things. “The worst that can happen to you in this life, on this planet, is to have people not be able to trust you.” How true that is and shall always be. Once the honesty and integrity has been established, the pride, a good pride and not a boastful pride, comes to life.
My father taught me loyalty and patriotism. My father taught me love of country. My father taught me love of God. He also taught me that we are all human and it will be impossible to become perfect yet, we can, in our frailties, strive to be perfect, knowing we will never get there but, trying even still.
My father taught me “others first, self second”. How rare this is indeed today. At times, it is lonely out there espousing these ideals and noble causes. Would not the world today be better off if there were less of the selfishness which is rampant? My father called it “the ME syndrome”. It is an ugly syndrome and I think there is no cure for it.
Yes, my father, as it turns out, has been the most influential person in my life. There have been others but, all in all, my own father takes first place.

American Dynasties?
Sunday, June 10, 2007 3:26 AM
From The Guardian
This is quite curious and funny. It COULD be serious.
We Americans know that the head of state in a monarchy is an inherited position. But we rebelled against that system and created a republic, in which men (and later women) would be chosen to lead the republic on the basis of their own accomplishments, not their family ties. Sure, we had the Adamses, and we may well be fortunate that neither George Washington nor Thomas Jefferson had a son. And there are other dynasties, often combined to one state, like the Longs of Louisiana and the Breckinridges of Kentucky. Representative Rodney Frelinghuysen is the sixth member of his family to represent New Jersey in Congress, dating back to the 18th century. One of his ancestors inspired the classic campaign song, “Hurrah, hurrah, the country’s risin’/For Henry Clay and Frelinghuysen!”
And today, of course, we face the prospect of replacing the son of a president in the White House with the wife of a president. We may have 24 or more years of Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton. One leading Republican strategist has recommended that Florida governor Jeb Bush run for president this year, on the grounds in this of all years he won’t lose points for being a dynastic candidate: what are they going to say, “don’t vote for the president’s brother, vote for the other president’s wife instead”?
But it goes beyond Bushes and Clintons these days. In a country formed in rebellion against dynastic government, some 18 members of the US Senate in 2005 had gained office at least in part through family ties, along with dozens of House members.
And now . . . Wyoming? The Cowboy State, the Equality State, the home of wide-open spaces, rugged individualists, and yeoman ranchers – Wyoming is about to choose a replacement for the late senator Craig Thomas. And according to the Washington Post, the most likely choices are:
Lynne Cheney, whose husband served as a congressman from Wyoming before becoming vice president; state house majority floor leader Colin Simpson, the son of former senator Alan Simpson; and two of Thomas’s three sons, Greg and Patrick.
Say it ain’t so, Wyoming. Show the Washington elite that celebrity and connections don’t cut as much ice in the Cowboy State as they do in the imperial capital. This is a republic, not an empire. If we can’t demonstrate that in Wyoming, what hope is there for the rest of us?

An ACLJ Victory!!
Thursday, May 31, 2007 1:56 AM
I am pleased to report on a significant victory at the House of Representatives!
Please take just a moment to view a special video report I prepared for you just hours following this pivotal victory, which defeated Congressman Marty Meehan’s dangerous amendment to the lobbying reform legislation.
Congressman Meehan sought to impose a grassroots lobbying restriction as part of the lobbying reform bill. This amendment was nothing short of an imposed gag-order on conservative, pro-family, pro-life organizations.
If it were to have passed, the language would have severely limited and restricted the First Amendment rights of grassroots organizations … such as the ACLJ … to mobilize on the key cultural issues of the day.
This is an important free speech victory for churches and non-profit organizations! Your voice, raised in protest, along with more than 180,000 Americans, helped to squash this dangerous legislation before the Judiciary Committee. The aggressive work of the ACLJ posed a formidable challenge to Congressman Meehan’s grassroots prohibition.
Please watch my video report right now and remember, your solid support makes these significant victories possible!

FIX YOUR SPACE BAR!!!
Anyway, a minor correction, if I may, Mr. Ruffini. If Dean wanted to get the readers increased and be more like kos, he would have to drop about 150 IQ points…you left off the “100”.
We in The New media are having a devastating affect and effect on the Leftinistra and the socialist/communist elements abroad AND in CONUS. Why else would they follow US around like the little lost puppy dogs that they are and NOT the other way around?
Poor trolls.

Jerry Falwell has died… DailyKossites villify
Posted by: Kevin McCullough at 2:02 PM
Details are few…
Here’s what is known at this moment.
The “Moral Majority” was perhaps his most ambitious effort, it was viewed by his critics as his most despised intiative.
KosKids are showing their repulsive side… but they are tame compared to the filth at the Democratic Underground.
The truth is Dr. Falwell was a man who loved his God before his person, his family before his job, and his country before his popularity. We are worse world for his loss.
Gee. I wonder. Do the Kossites think THEY have the corner market on morality?

Those “Fed Up” Americans
Monday, May 14, 2007 1:27 AM
This was sent to me via email with a question as to the validity of the supposed author. It is said to belong to Jay Leno. Snopes says Jay Leno is NOT the author Craig R Smith is the author I don’t watch the show so I wouldn’t know. No matter who the author is, the words herein are appropriate and they set a true tone in sarcasm and founded in truth. As you read the words of the anonymous for now author, keep this scenario in mind.
My favorite show(s) are all the Law and Order and CSI episodes. I analyze the agendas therein and quite often than not I have a grand time laughing. Americans have become slothful and lazy.
We are so accustomed to everything being instant. Our patience has waxed thinly in regards to anything that doesn’t go our way. We don’t understand why things don’t happen when we want them to happen in the exact moment we demand things to happen.
Many Americans have become totally reliant on the United States Government to hand them everything and anything because they have become lazy and have no intent of taking care of themselves.
For example, in the TV shows I have mentioned and others as well, a crime is committed, a list of suspects is created, an investigation begins, warrants are issued, evidence is excluded or included, an investigation is concluded, arrests are made, arraignments are complied with, a jury is selected that we never see, a trial ensues, a jury deliberates, a conviction or aquittal is made, a sentence is handed down, appeals are made, appeals are denied, and it is off to jail or freedom they go. All this happens in 60 minutes or if the case is REALLY bad, it takes 2 episodes.
We have been acclimated to instant coffee, instant tea, instant oatmeal, instant success and instant results.
Life isn’t that way, folks. It just isn’t. Keep this in mind as you read the words following.
“The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right?
The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the president. In essence 2/3s of the citizenry just ain’t happy and want a change.
So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, ”What we are so unhappy about?” Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter? Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job? Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?
Maybe it is the ability to drive from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state? Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter? I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.
Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family and your belongings. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90 percent of teenagers own cell phones and computers.
How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world? Maybe that is what has 67 percent of you folks unhappy.
Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the US, yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don’t have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.
I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me? Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn’t take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad?
Think about it……are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the “Media” told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day. Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom.
There is currently no draft in this country. They didn’t have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ”general” discharge, an ”other than honorable” discharge or, worst case scenario, a ”dishonorable” discharge after a few days in the brig.
So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans? Say what you want but I blame it on the media. ‘If it bleeds it leads’ and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by “justifying” them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how he didn’t kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way…… Insane! Stop buying the negativism you are fed everyday by the media. Shut off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country.
There is exponentially more good than bad. We are among the most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative.” “With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, “Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?”

About
Former HUMINT. ‘Nuf said. Are you serving in the WOT??? Send us the stories and we will post them on the blog, should you so desire. I have received several emails out of the blue inquiring as to my HUMINT experience. I cannot and will not go into the details of such former activities, for the obvious reasons. In a nutshell, I have been fighting terrorists and the ideals of said bodies of murderers since 1974. I “retired” (once in never out) in 2004. 28 of those years were in the service of my country, The United States of America. Now that I am a “civilian”, I continue the battles here in the blogosphere and letters, dispatches, emails and faxes. I have determined that the battle(s) begin here, Stateside. We, the members of the Silent Majority, can be silent no more. The Leftinistra have secured and entrenched themselves within the alleged Main Stream Media now renamed as The Lame Stream Media or as I like to call them, The LSD Press. As a friend of mine from Indiana states, “The Silent Majority must stand up and ‘Do The Right Thing’ and overcome the ‘Vocal Minority’.” It can be done. We just need to get up off our complacent rear ends and fight for that which we know in our hearts is right. If we do not, we automatically fall for and support that which we know in our hearts to be wrong. If the Silent Majority continues to be afraid, they deserve everything that comes their way. PERIOD!
