Sleepless in Cairo
Life Happened… Because I turned the pages! ~ Alberto Manguel ~
The insane me…
A technology based girl that hates these stupid machines called “Computers” the most!
Sometimes you’ll get the feeling that I’m a 5 years-old dreamy girl, and other time – most of the time actually – you’ll fall under the impression that I’m an 80 years-old woman who’s living her last few days on earth… So, either ways, to cut it short on you… Am currently 26 (am almost 30 now :))… (Yea! I made it to the Silver Jubilee, and crossed it kaman)! Am single, and not looking… and I am pure Egyptian…
Ah… one last thing… Am an Aquarian & Zamalkaweya (Imagine?!) 🙂
In short; I’m just another crazy mind struggling to identify herself en route to eventually be able to face the world…
“A once beautiful, then pathetic, lost, and heroically stupid girl!”

Dear Rehab,
Thank you very much for this blog. I really enjoyed reading the most of it :).
I can not help myself but notice that you have had a really shocking experience that really reflects itself in your writings, I mean the way you express yorself , there is just too much sadness in your writings and I believe that only someone who has really lived those expreiences can describe them so clearly. Anyhow I just wanted to tell you that life goes on and that the Earth won’t stop spinning as they say. One last thing when you introduce yourself in your blog you say “Single and not looking” well that is a lie because really no one , especially women, really stops looking. And the way I undersatnd women I know that the happpiest thing that happens to them is falling in love and getting married. So i really can not understand the point of saying that you are not looking but I can only guess.
Fianlly I wish you a Happy Ramadan and a Happy Life 🙂

Dear Mohamed,
Well… THank you SO much for your kind words… I’m overwhelemed…
I perfectly agree with you that life goes on… in fact this is all it does… it just keeps going and going, no matter how much we wanted it to stop @ certain moments… 🙂
As for my motto… single and not looking… well… am just… perfectly fine with my life the way it is now… at least for the time being…
As for the “happiest thing that happens to them”… well… love give the happiest of feelings to almost every one… doesnt necessarily has to be a woman to feel the beauty of love…
Anywyas… Ramadan Kareem 🙂 and thanks again for your passing by!

Assalamu alaicom dear blogger-sis =]
Hope you’re doing well so. I read many pages of your wonderful blog till now, I’m really amazed and very..impressed. Actually last night I just decided to make my own blog here on wordpress and I was trying to google it, and your blog popped up so I decided to have a look on another ROu (this is my nickname too while I’ve the same name of Reihab as yours :D) and she’s egyptian too, what really surprises me wasn’t us having same name same nickname but it’s the common thoughts we have, that was really awesome and very exciting for me to read most of your pages. I’m really happy to find someone with whom -w/o any possible connection- I have a connection mentally and spiritually too.. Happy to find ya and hope we’d be blogg-sisters lol Waiting for more of your masterpieces, enjoy your day, salams. =]

Dear Reihab (Why do you write it with an “I”, I write it “Rehab”),
It is such a pleasure to get to know you, I can’t start telling you how your kind words made me feel… Begad you made my day! 🙂
What a coincidence to have you have even the same nickname as mine… I mean… “Rou” is not a common name, Ruby, RoRo, Ra7oob, and names as such are mostly used as a nickname for Rehab… 🙂
I really am happy you can relate to my humble thoughts and reflections, it’s always a good thing to know that am not alone in this planet that thinks in such a way…
Please let me know when you start your blog so as to visit it, I’m sure you’ll have a lot of interesting things to share, and will be waiting for it!
Again thank you so much for passing by and for taking the time to leave me your comment over here! You take care!

Hello Miss Rehab,
I found your blog by chance while I was searching .. I liked it and spent some time exploring “you” through your writings .. it’s one of the most wealthy blogs I’ve ever seen..well, I didn’t see too much, did I ?!;)
Just wanna say thanks for your nice posts, I’ve really enjoyed it.. But what did you mean by “Computer-based” girl ???

Hi Hossam,
Thank you so much for your kind words, and for taking the time to leave me this comment… I’m just glad you found it interesting…
Regarding the “computer-based” girl thing… well, it’s just an expression keda I use to describe how much I was raised on computers, in terms of studies, and usage…
That’s all… no big deal! 🙂

Dear Rehab,
In a few lines, and I promise to write more later, I want to tell you that I found your blog when I googled “Magdy Yacoub” because I know an 11-month-old girl who had an open heart sergery in Aswan a few days ago, done by Dr.Yacoub himself. Anyway, I came across your “Sleepless in Cairo” and it attracted me to read more.
Let me just drop you this note and I’m sure we’ll correspond more. What I wanted to suggest is that you read the latest book of Ahlam Mostaghanmi (have you heard of her? she’s Algerian and writes in Arabic, famous novels are ذاكرة الجسد، فوضى الحواس، عابر سرير) this book is called “comنسيان” since you live in Cairo, you can find the book at Dywan bookshop.
We’ll talk later. For now… “nice meeting you”
🙂

Hi Rehab,
Sorry it took me forever to reply. You’re very perceptive, i did have a “thing” that kept me busy… actualy it’s a “person” and he always keeps me busy, my 5-month-old son, Philip 😉
Regarding the book, it’s funny that i don’t have it anymore, i had this crazy idea of mailing it to my sister in the UK on her birthday… i’ll get myself another copy soon inshalla.
Most probably i’ll e-mail you (instead of posting notes on your blog) on my next break, upon the little one’s permission 😀

Oh sweeeety… he’s still a little “thing” I guess… 😀
May God protect him.. :))
You won’t believe it, I didn’t pass by Diwan since then, and hence did not get the book yet… but I promise I will pretty soon inshallah…
I would really love to stay in touch with you, and will eagerly wait for your emails… Meanwhile, you just take good care of yourself and of your sweet fellow… 🙂
