A while in the park

The expression of faces was always a concern for this master.

Oh shoes! How many things they can express!

What Dalí did was very simple. He mixed objects from different environments, changed their scale, drew perspective lines, placed a human figure on them… et voilà, a Surrealist work.

All that remains is to find a disturbing or absurd title.

The black dress

In this watercolor, you can appreciate the beautiful and detailed construction of the texture of the dress, based on meticulous brushstrokes. The pale skin helps to pronounce a facial expression, which could have subscribed a contemporary like Munch. Only one year younger than Gustav.

A very english landscape

This brief but beautiful watercolour might look like a mosaic, and to some it might even remind one of Gaudí’s ceramic works. Hockney has an excellent ability to represent, with powerful abstract shapes.
