I always nuke my subs because I don’t like the feeling of cold meat. Last night I ended up shredding the chicken and putting a lot of it into some canned chicken noodle soup, which made it infinitely better. Tonight I’m probably going to have chicken sammiches for dinner 🙂

Yeah…definitely don’t recommend that. However, I did see some colors I’ve never seen before. Right before the doc removed my lens he told me to enjoy the show, as most people aren’t with it enough to remember. So…yay?

But – egads! Having cataract surgery while fully awake? I’ll have nightmares about that now. Yeah, no wonder you were/are stressed!

Comment on Kindness Counts by GOM in Oklahoma

Tue, 18 Aug 2020 17:37:00 +0000https://shutterbugsramblings.wordpress.com/2020/08/17/kindness-counts/#comment-2268At the height of the “lockdown” and the “news” reports that people were doing “acts of kindness” stuff towards each other, I’d go to work and do my job and interact with the public and everything really seemed just as normal as ever. Some A-holes, mostly just regular folks. I HAS gotten a little more negative as things have drawn out, but not nearly as bad as what the media wants me to believe. Maybe that’s a by-product of living in the middle of the country and not on either coast.
I think the water bottles and snack idea is nice. My neighbor’s kids (before COVID) would run water bottles out to the garbage men every week during the summer. We’re about to switch to a contractor for trash pick-up where the guy won’t ever get out of his air-conditioned truck … so I think that’s a thing of the past.

Same here. Rural county of about 4500 people, 20 cases, 2 deaths (“but they were sick old folks anyway” he said callously). School was supposed to start today (17th), but was pushed back a week to the 24th.
The mask wearing has been a gigantic pain in the ass for me at work because we’ve had high humidity and breathing has been difficult. But at least it’s (mostly) air-conditioned!

We are doing a full open on the 31st, at the elementary level at least. The high school will be more of a hybrid option. Living in the boondocks we don’t have the best internet, and there is no cell service where my school is. Thankfully I live 15 miles away in civilization with high speed internet!
The teachers are going to be required to wear masks, and I believe they have gotten shields for all of us. I appreciate the safety, but we are not air conditioned like most schools these days, and the start and end of school is always miserable with the heat without having to wear all the extra stuff.
I’m hoping we’re far enough away that we will be able to remain open. There are a lot of protocols in place, but my county does not have a ton of cases, and we’re a couple hours away from any of the bigger cities.
I’m nervous, because I personally take a couple of the boxes for people that could get really really sick. Still, and will be nice to rejoin society!

side note – are you still teaching? How did/will that go? Schools here are opening up with slight modifications … but Oklahoma is a state with extremely liberal home-schooling ‘laws,’ so.
But maybe your answers are better for another post – when you get time, lol.

I know! It’s been a crazy ride. She’ll be 9 in October…though she’s definitely working on the teenage attitude early!
