Did you know that southerners have been known to serve their banana pudding warm? Yuck! I don’t recommend that for this recipe.
1-14 oz. Eagle Brand condensed milk
1 1/2 C cold water
1-4 oz serving pkg instant vanilla pudding
2 C whipping cream–whipped
36 vanilla wavers
3 med bananas–sliced & dipped in lemon juice
Directions
In large bowl, mix Eagle Brand & water. Add pudding mix; beat well. Chill 5 minutes, then fold in whipped cream.
Spoon 1 C of mixture into a 2 1/2 Qt. serving bowl. Top w/ 1/3 of each: wafers, bananas, pudding mixture. Repeat twice ending w/pudding. Cover & chill.
Garnish w/ wafers (whole, broken, or crushed), bananas & another fruit (fresh berries look nice) as desired.
It is true Sheri, (lol) real Southerners eat it warm. The recipe for that sort of banana pudding is simply homemade vanilla pudding poured over layers of sliced bananas and vanilla wafers. Southerners who want to make it fancy will bake a meringue topping over it. It is good cold too. I prefer it warm without meringue.
“Real Southerners”. 😀 My transplanted roots are showing! I’ve also been known to put mayo and mustard on a BBQ sandwich; much to my southern husband’s chagrin.
lol, Mayo and mustard on a BBQ sandwich! 😀 That’s pretty strange alright! 😉
I served my husband banana pudding on his birthday or — actually, I cooked it and he served himself by eating half of it. Poor deprived man, but it was good.
how about mayo and mustard for french fires?
or dipping our fries into our wendy’s frostys?
strange but yummy!
