Welcome to Sequestered Nooks!
I’m a lifelong lover of reading and books. Over the years I’ve tried various ways to keep track of and reflect on what I’ve read, but the added benefit of a blog is the social component. When I finish a book I enjoy looking to see what others have said about it; often reviews may point out nuances I had failed to notice before.
My favorite genre is decidedly mysteries and gothics (the Rebecca kind, not the Twilight kind), though I also enjoy historical novels and other types of fiction. Sometimes I’ll seek out the neglected or esoteric, because it makes me feel like I’m rescuing something forgotten. I like books that make me think, but I also enjoy happy endings.
There is an especially fond place in my heart for series books , such as those from the Stratemeyer Syndicate, which formed a large part of my childhood reading. I liked the idea that you could return to the same characters for new adventures. I devoured my fair share of Babysitters Club and Saddle Club, but those with mystery plots reigned supreme.
I’m a math teacher by trade, but other hobbies include sewing, crafting, and gardening.
Thanks for visiting!
Hello,
I like your blog very much. I like reading too, though recently I have been thinking more about ESL teaching, which is what I do every day.
And Jane Austen has always been my favourite.
Good luck!
Elena
Thanks, Elena! Teaching definitely eats up a lot of attention, but I appreciate your stopping by.
