I spent some time over the Christmas break to work on refining some tasks like exchanging large amounts of data between our two offices. Both sites already have a proper 3-2-1 backup strategy, now we have got an additional copy. A nice to have I wanted was an option to ditch iCloud Drive. Syncthing is not the best or the easiest replacement, but it is workable and has been reliable for three devices I used it on in the past.
It is this time of the year again. I will keep it short: I hope you and your families have an amazing holiday season. Find a few days, hopefully weeks, to relax and recuperate. It does not matter what or if you celebrate, some time to slow down, have good food and do something just for the sake of having fun is always a great idea. <3
Gaming headsets, audiophiles and beyerdynamic DT 70 IE
A few months ago I treated myself to beyerdynamic DT 70 IE in-ear-monitors. As per my own policy I use something for a few month before talking about it. It is easy to get super excited about something in the first week or two just for it to fall apart during daily use. Now instead of doing a typical review talking about a random classic piece of music you listen to sitting in a closed off room most people will not be able to relate to I decided to take a slightly different approach.
My dad upgraded from an old iMac to a MacMini. He decided that two 4k Dell monitors I had in storage were perfect for him. This left me without a monitor if I ever need one for servers or to connect other random stuff, which happens more often than you would think. So during Prime Day I bought a BenQ GW2491 for 80 Euro. This monitor could not be more unremarkable.
