I enjoyed browsing over your blog, Derek and especially enjoyed looking at the photos of your mules, goats, poultry and all. reading your blog ate up a good chunk of my spare time, but it was all amusingly worth it. you both have the life i’d call ‘living’! I wish I could retire in your farm. …one more year and I’ll have an empty nest! …well, except for Gemma who probably will be my companion the rest of my life.

Thank you. High praise coming from you. At the moment I would like to write more but have a fair amount of wire to stretch to keep the animals from wandering to town. It’s like that here every day. You get up, walk out the door, and just start doing. The only priority is making sure everyone gets to eat and drink, and after that, it’s a sort of undifferentiated oblivion of work. Lately it’s been a little hot to spend a full day at it, but it’s also a little hot to think clearly.

Everything’s fine, just a little hectic: I feel guilty saying that knowing you’ve been having a tough go of it.
I’m trying to work in a little breathing space so I can do some artwork, but the farm is being a farm. A very muddy farm.
