Burgers are everywhere.

This blog is for anyone who loves to eat and drink. Included are my thoughts, recipes and mistakes and I hope they amuse and maybe make others think about spending more time cooking.

I do need some help. I am using your candied fig recipe from 2014/08/30. I’ve used it several times before but this time my figs are molding. They seem to be too moist. I have begun turning the oven on (without the figs inside) several times a day. What might I have done wrong? Thanks for any thoughts. This was a favorite recipe of my whole family!!

  3. Great blog … I love it! Hard to tear myself away from the recipes and how-to methods … we have that exact smoker – I will be back! A quick note that you may or may not find handy is when I post recipes I use the indexed, tab feature when listing the ingredients to eliminate that huge space between each one. I searched all the themes looking for better form and then one day I spotted all the features up top when you are composing the post. It may not matter to you, but I thought it was a remarkable find … made me a happy lister of recipes!

  41. Such a delicious looking blog!! And a confession, I simply ADORE men who cook! 😀 I’ll try some of your recipes.

  42. Hello! And thanks for your comments on my blog.
Hey, I checked here to see what you would recommend to drink with buttered beet greens, but alas!!! I cannot find one reference to beets, at all!!!
However, I did find that wonderful recipe for sweet potatoes sans marshslop, as we call it, and I thank you for that. We prefer baked, buttered, and cinnamon-ed, but I know we will love this, too.
Great photo in the header–great photography everywhere–keep it up!

    • Thanks, there’s a reason there are no beet greens, we haven’t tried them. I love kale, but my wife doesn’t so the whole greens thing is something I’m trying to bring her around on. I love greens. There’s a beans and greens soup, she’ll eat. That’s on here. She also apparently loved beets so much as a kid she won’t eat them now. Depending on what you’re serving a nice buttery, not overly oaked chard may do well. Or maybe a nice Sauvignon Blanc. We love our sweet potatoes that way too.

      • Our beets often land on the table with something chicken, so a white would be good. That reminds me my mom’s recipe for pear should be nearly ready…lots of beautiful pears last year…hmm. I guess I got confused because I thought of beets, strong and full, but the greens are mild and almost sweet. Yes, the pear would be grand, I think! Thanks!
