I fold, thetefore I am. – romie

Romie is presently an independent policy and program development consultant in the field of education and peacebuilding. He has served a number of international development agencies and international non-government organizations, such as UNICEF, Oxfam and Cardno International, as well as government agencies, notably the Department of Education.

Outside his professional work, Romie is an origami artist. During his childhood years, he frequently folded traditional and popular origami models such as the crane, flapping bird, boat, plane, shuriken, and jumping frogs. Over the years, Romie increasingly got fascinated with origami, particularly with the works of origami art masters such as David Brill, Jun Maekawa, Michael Lafosse, Neil Elias, Peter Engel, and Robert Lang.

In later years, Romie delved into origami designing. His original creations are featured in this blog. They range from simple or easy to intermediate models in various categories: animals, mythological characters, boxes, decorative origami, and practical origami. He has taught origami to a number of children, youth and adults through small informal sessions.

Some of his models have been featured in certain YouTube channels, as well as in the Tanteidan Magazine published by the Japan Origami Academic Society (JOAS).

Thank you so much for the invitation, Jean. I’d love to, but I can’t make it on September 3 especially since it falls on a working day. I do full-time consultancy work on weekdays. Maybe some other time? My apologies.

      Thanks.
