“Perverse Japanese Art” exhibition
I recently visited the art exhibition "Perverse Japanese Art: From Zen Painting to Heta-uma". Spoiler: it wasn't actually perverse! The artworks in this exhibition were selected because they aren't beautiful in a traditional sense, but still attractive to the observer.
Raising spirits during the pandemic
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, Shinto shrines were forced to empty the water basins at the entrance of the shrine. Many Shinto shrines around the country have now started decorating the empty water basins with flower arrangements to lift people's spirits.
