Big Brother 27 — And That’s The End Of That

Hi, everyone!

Well, another season of Big Brother is in the books.

So, I guess I should state what some people have already guessed.  I did not like this season.  To be honest, I hated this season.  The majority of the houseguests were annoying.  The Mastermind twist was overly complicated and unnecessary.  The player who deserved to win the game instead became the final juror.  Vinny spent too much time crying and whining.  And while I’m sure some took pleasure in watching him lose, the jury was so obviously bitter towards him that there really wasn’t any suspense.  Ashley, who really did very little this season, won by a 6-1 vote.  She didn’t win for her gameplay.  She won because she wasn’t Vince.

(Morgan gave Vince a sympathy vote.)

My personal theory is that this season was set up with the idea that Rachel would become the first Big Brother houseguest to win two seasons.  As such, just as they did with Big Brother 19, production didn’t give much thought to the other people they were sending into the house.  The important thing was that everyone just had to be dumb enough that Rachel would be able to steamroll them.  What production did not consider was that Rachel wouldn’t be able to solve a very easy maze in four minutes.  Rachel got eliminated and we got stuck with a Vinny/Ashley final two.

Keanu did win America’s Favorite Player.  The fact that the player who was the most targeted in the House won by 65% of the vote shows, I think, how a lot of viewers felt about this season.

This was a season of terrible gameplay.  Vinny needlessly alienated the jury.  Rachel couldn’t solve a maze.  Zach didn’t use his money to get off the block.  I liked Ava but she fell to pieces whenever she actually had to do anything.  Morgan won until she let her nerves get the better of her during the final competition.  Ashley was so verbose and condescending in her final speech to the jury that she would have lost if she wasn’t going up against anyone other than Vince.  Kelley repeatedly demanded to go on the block.  Jimmy came on too strong.  Zae wilted as soon as he was nominated.  Keanu had a terrible social game.

Oh well, it’s over now.  I’ll be back next season and hopefully, I’ll do a better job covering things than I did this season.  As for now, I will be enjoying Survivor and The Amazing Race!

Thanks for reading!

Big Brother 27 — It’s Time To Open Up The Diary Room For The Final Time

Hi, everyone!

On Thursday, Vince evicted Ava.  Ava torched him on her way out, which I enjoyed watching.

As for the contest to determine who will become the final HoH, Ashley won the first part and Morgan won the second part.  On Sunday, Ashley and Morgan will compete in the third and final part.  Whoever wins will decide who to take with her to the final two.

So the question now is …. who do you want to win?

Personally, I don’t like any of them.  I definitely know who I don’t want to win and that’s whiny Vince.  Vince has spent way too much time crying during this season.

Ashley really hasn’t done anything this season.  She survived by cozying up to Rachel but otherwise, she’s been a nonfactor.

So, that leaves Morgan.  I don’t particularly care much for Morgan.  I think her gameplay is overrated.  (She’s another one who hid behind Rachel for most of the game.)  But, with the season coming to an end and only three plays left, Morgan is my default pick.

We’ll see what happens on Sunday!

Big Brother 27 — It’s Time To Open Up The Diary Room

Hi, everyone!

Well, I was definitely bummed out that Keanu got voted out earlier this week.  Without Keanu around, this final week is going to be a pretty boring one.  Our final four — Vinny, Ava, Ashley, and Morgan — is not a particularly inspiring quartet.

To quickly fill you in on what’s happened in the house since Kenau left:

  1. Morgan won HoH, again.
  2. Morgan nominated Ashley and Ava for eviction.
  3. Morgan won the power of veto, again.
  4. Tonight, either Vinny will decide who goes to jury.
  5. It’ll probably be Ava.

That said, let’s still open up the Diary Room.  Who do you want to see go tonight?

I voted for Ashley because she’s boring.  Ava is at least occasionally funny.

This season has really turned into a disappointment this final month.  The only real question now is whether or not Vinny will make it to the final two and how bitter will the jury be.  Personally, I can’t stand Vinny.  He’s way too whiney.

But I don’t really care much for Ashley or Morgan either.  Ashley really hasn’t done much of note.  Morgan hid behind Rachel for most of the game and the only reason she’s doing well now is that because the rest of the houseguests are so weak.  If Morgan makes it to the final two, she deserves to win but that says more about this season than any brilliant gameplay on Morgan’s part.

Oh well.  At least Survivor and The Amazing Race are back!

Big Brother 27 — And Your New HoH Is….

Hi, everyone!

Our new HoH is….

Get ready to yawn….

VINNY!

*YAWN*

Ugh.  Yes, Vinny is once again HoH and that basically means that Morgan is HoH.  So, get ready for another week of Keanu and Ava on the block.  Vinny is determined to get Keanu out this week, which is pretty stupid since Keanu has promised to take him to the final two.

If Keanu or Ava (hey, anything’s possible) wins the veto, Ashley will go up.  If Ashley wins the veto and then uses it, Vinny would be forced to nominate Morgan.  But I honestly don’t think Ashley would use the veto if she won it.  She’s not that smart of a player.

Looking at the house, I think Keanu is the favorite for the veto, though I have to admit that Keanu hasn’t been as impressive in the past few challenges as he was at the start of the season.  I think he may be a little bit tired of having to fight for his life every week.

To be honest, this news totally bums me out.  If Keanu goes to jury on Wednesday, we’re going to have a pretty boring finale.  If the final two are Morgan and Vinny, I’m going to feel like this was another wasted season.

Personal theory: when they cast this show, they tried to pick people who would be easily manipulated by Rachel.  It was pretty obvious that this season was set up so Rachel could become the first person to win Big Brother twice.  But production obviously wasn’t expecting Rachel to get eliminated as a result of not being able to solve a painfully simple maze puzzle.  So now, production is stuck with a bunch of people who probably weren’t even supposed to make it to the Final Five.

Oh well, who knows?  Keanu could win that veto and Vinny could realize that there’s no way he can beat Morgan in the final two.  Let’s not give up hope for an interesting finale yet!

Big Brother 27 — Double Eviction Results

Hi, everyone!

So, tonight, we finally got a double eviction episode.  (This is the first season that I can remember in which there was only one double eviction episode.)  The blockbuster is now officially ended and there are now two less houseguests in the House.

The final blockbuster was won by Lauren.  Therefore, for the first vote of the night, it was Keanu vs Kelley.  Ava and Lauren both votes to evict Keanu.  Ashley and Morgan voted to evict Kelley.  We had our first (and probably only) tie vote of the season and Vinny was forced to cast the tie-breaker.  Vinny evicted Kelley,  Doing otherwise would have meant risking the wrath of Morgan.

For the second eviction of the night, Morgan won HoH and nominated Keanu and Lauren for eviction.  The veto was won by Keanu and, after Keanu saved himself, Ava went up as the replacement.  When it came time to vote, Vinny voted for Ava while Ashley and Keanu both voted for Lauren.

Lauren and Kelley are now gone.  It’s a little surprising that they lasted as long as they did.  Lauren was often indecisive while Kelley never seemed to understand how Big Brother worked.  (She was shocked to recently learn that the feeds are, more or less, live 24 hours a day.)  There are only five houseguests and two weeks left in the game.  Myself, I’m hoping that Keanu wins the upcoming HoH comp because otherwise, things are going to be pretty boring for the final two weeks.

We’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 27 — It’s Time To Open Up The Diary Room For Week 10

Hi, everyone!

So, after getting thoroughly humiliated by Zingbot, Vinny is now on the verge of getting humiliated by Morgan.  Vinny has promised Lauren that, even though she’s on the block, she will not be evicted.  However, Morgan would definitely like to see Lauren go and she’s been trying to win Ashley and Ava over to her side.

As usual, it all depends on who wins the Blockbuster!  If it’s Lauren vs Kelley, Kelley will probably be voted it.  If it’s Lauren vs Keanu, things could get a little unpredictable.

So, who do you vote to evict?

Me, I’m voting for Kelley because, after ten weeks in the House, she somehow seems to know less about Big Brother than when she came in.  I simply cannot stand the idea of someone who constantly volunteered to go up making it to the finale.

Happy voting!  And remember — tonight’s eviction is a double eviction!  So, we will be saying goodbye to two houseguests.  Who do you want to be the second person evicted tonight?  Let us know in the comments!

Big Brother 27 — Week 11 Update

Hi, all.

So, here’s where things stand.

Last Thursday, it was abruptly decided that Will was too likable and, as a result, he was voted out on a 3-2 vote.  Ava and Kelley voted to keep Will.  Everyone else voted to evict him.

Now, with Week 11 underway, Vinny is once again HoH but things are different now.  Vinny being HoH means that Morgan is HoH and she’s pretty much been the decision maker this week.

Vinny/Morgan’s original nominees were Ava, Keanu, and Kelley.  It’s amazing how long Keanu and Kelley have lasted in this game, considering that they’re nominated nearly every week.

The veto comp was won by Morgan.  Morgan proceeded to nominate Lauren for eviction.  As of right now, it seems that the plan is to vote out either Keanu or Kelley, depending on which one fails to win the Blockbuster.  However, Ava has been saying that it might be a good idea to keep Kelley in the house because she’ll always be bigger target than everyone else.  (That’s true but it’s so close to the end of the game that I don’t know if it really matters anymore.)

So, for now, it’s Lauren, Kelley, and Keanu on the block.  Ava, Morgan, and Ashley will be doing the voting and it will probably come down to whoever Morgan and Ashley want out.  Right now, that’s Keanu.  That could change by Thursday!

Myself, I’m just shocked that they’re still doing the whole blockbuster thing.  Usually, twists like that get abandoned once jury starts.

P.S. Zingbot came back for the HoH comp.  We’ll see him on Tuesday night.  I’m not a big Zingbot fan but apparently, Vinny took his zings very personally so I’m looking forward to seeing that!

Big Brother 27 — It’s Time To Open Up The Diary Room For Week 9

We’re close to the end.  Rachel is the first member of the jury.  Tonight, someone will join her.

So, it’s time to open up the diary room!

Who do you vote to evict?

For whatever reason, the Blockbuster is continuing and I don’t think either Will or Ashley have much hope of winning it.  Will has a bad leg.  Ashley sucks at challenges.  Keanu is a comp best and he truly wants to make it to the end.  I vote to evict Ashley.

Finally, I do need say something about the elimination of Rachel.  On the one hand, I’m not happy about the idea of Big Brother using a comp to eliminate someone this late in the game.  That’s not the way that Big Brother is supposed to be played.  On the other hand, if Rachel was as much of a badass as she’s spent this entire season bragging that she is, she would have been able to solve that extremely simple puzzle in 3 and a half minutes.

The houseguests are getting a lot of hate online for “targeting” Rachel.  To be honest, regardless of whether the comp was fair or a good idea, Rachel has only herself to blame for her elimination.  Instead of complaining about not getting picked first, Rachel should have been trying to avoid getting picked in the first place.  No, I was not impressed with how a lot of the houseguests behaved.  Ava asking for volunteers and then picking Vinny, who didn’t volunteer?  Yeah, that was dumb.  Still, Rachel was eliminated because she failed to complete a very simple maze and she only has herself to blame for that.  No one owed Rachel anything, regardless of what Rachel herself seemed to believe.

(Anyone who has Rachel’s three seasons on The Amazing Race knows how quickly she can fold under pressure.)

Anyway, we’ll see what happens tonight!

Big Brother 27 — The Week So Far

Hi, everyone!  Apologies again for the late update.

So, I’m sure everyone has heard the big news by now.  The feeds went down after Mickey was unanimously evicted on Thursday night.  (Mickey was stunned too — she really thought everyone was going to keep her!)  While the feeds were down, the houseguests competed in a safety chain competition and a maze competition and, long story short — RACHEL IS NO LONGER IN THE HOUSE!

That’s right, Rachel lost the competition and was eliminated from the game.  There’s been a lot of online speculation as to what exactly happened.  (The houseguests have been talking about it but the folks in charge of the feeds have been cutting away from them, presumably to keep us from hearing too much before the next show.)  Ava apparently had first pick in the safety chain comp but did not pick Rachel because Rachel and Keanu got into a big argument before Ava made her picks and, according to Ava, Rachel “put her hands on me” in a threatening manner.  I’m not totally sure what happened (we’ll find out on when the show airs on Tuesday) but the important thing is Rachel is gone and her fans on twitter have been crying for three days straight.

(I just find it interesting that Rachel was safe as long as it was just nominations — despite nearly every HoH thinking about nominating her before being summoned to the Diary Room — but the minute she had to actually win a competition on her own, she was eliminated.)

There’s been a lot of online speculation that Rachel might come back but this show has only got three more weeks to go and there’s a double and maybe even a triple eviction coming up.  There’s no time to bring Rachel back.  Instead, Rachel is now the first member of the jury.  Because it was their anniversary, Rachel was allowed to call Brendon after she was eliminated.  On twitter, Brendon said that Rachel was very angry over being eliminated.  That doesn’t surprise me.  I saw how she reacted to losing three seasons of The Amazing Race.

The current HoH is Laruen.  She nominated Ashley, Morgan, and Will for eviction.  (Will injured himself during the Safety Chain Comp so he’s pretty much incapable of competing right now.)  Morgan won the veto and used it on herself earlier today.  Keanu was nominated in her place.

Now, despite what I originally expected, they’re still doing the Blockbuster even though the jury selection has begun.  Will can barely move so he’s not going to win the blockbuster.  Ashley is terrible at comps, as we saw on Thursday.  Keanu is the clear favorite to win the blockbuster so, if I had to guess, I’d say Ashley is about to go to jury.

What’s interesting is how disillusioned all the remaining players are.  None of them were happy with how Rachel was eliminated but, even more importantly, they’re now realizing that the social game is pointless this season.  Instead, it’s all coming down to who can win competitions.  Ava, Will, and Ashley have been talking about how Kelley is probably going to make it to the end just by winning comps.

In short, the entire house is currently bitter and miserable!

We’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 27 — It’s Time To Open Up The Diary Room For Week 8

It’s that time again!

The veto has been played.  The replacement noms have been made.  All that’s left is the Blockbuster (for perhaps the last time this season) and then the vote.  On Thursday, we’ll have the final eviction before the jury phase begins.

So, who do you vote to evict?

I voted for Vinny because I’m tired of him crying all the time.
