Rattle the Fence: Sometimes a batter will hit a ball that is like a rocket blast and hangs a good lick onto the outfield wall or fence. Sometimes, just to give a heavy hitter some teammate encouragement, we will get his hopes up with, “Come on Big Boy rattle the fence”. (https://www.baseballfarming.com/BaseballLingo-page5.html)
That’s the baseball connotation for this blogsite. But there is more life to baseball. Did I really say that?
Yes, I do love Baseball. Though I may throw in something interesting interesting about baseball from time to time (Go Rockies – Someone has to root for them!) this blog is about rattling your fence, shaking your boundaries, making you think outside the arena that you may be stuck in.
I hope to jiggle your soul (mind, will and emotions). The goal is not to agitate you, unless you need to be agitated. Nor is it to unsettle you, unless you’ve become a little too settled. The goal of the prose within this blog is to get you to search, investigate and examine the deep things of your heart and to pursue, explore, the truth.
I may not always be right, but my challenge to you – as it is for myself – is to find the Truth, to know the Truth, to share the Truth, and most importantly to live the Truth.
There are three (no four) scriptures that I will hang my cap (a baseball hat) on throughout this blog:
Psalm 25:4-5 Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.
John 8:31-32 … Jesus said, ”If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Acts 17:11 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.
