Out of My Dreams was inspired by the haiku by Ryōkan Taigu

out of my dreams

Ryōkan Taigu was a Japanese poet and calligrapher who lived during the Edo period. A Buddhist monk who lived much of his life as a hermit, Taigu spent most of his time writing poetry, calligraphy, and communing with nature. His poetry is often very simple and inspired by nature.

Katō Kyōtai was a poet from Nagoya who entered the world of haikai in 1759. His work shares with Buson a careful observation, not just of nature itself, but also of the complex emotions and reactions that characterize human existence.

Marco is the creator of Naviar Records. In his words, “Those were my first days travelling alone in Japan without Gosia and Zoe, so I wrote it thinking about the perception of time, and how much I missed them.”

Winter Sun

Winter Sun was inspired by the haiku by Murakami Kijo.

winter sun –
my own shadow
blocks the way

Murakami Kijo was a contemporary of Masaoka Shiki. Born into a samurai family in a time of social transformation in Japan, Kijo lost most of his hearing at the age of 18, which compromised his studies and professional career.

Widowed young and struggling financially throughout his life, Kijo worked as a scribe to sustain his family. Eventually, he started being regularly featured in the Hototogisu magazine (curated by Kyoshi at the time) and became a distinguished haikuist.

Winter Sun was written for Flute, Clarinet, Horn, Trombone, Cymbals, Gong, Violin, Viola, Cello and String Bass.

In Search of a Name was inspired by the haiku by Mark Miller

Mark Miller is an award-winning poet and photographer who has published four books of poetry, the latest being Light and Counterlight (Ginninderra Press, 2020), a selection of his haiku from over 400 that have been published in international journals and anthologies. His haiku have been featured on buses and trains, on the walls of a public swimming pool, and on art installations in parks and malls. Mark lives in Shoalhaven Heads, Australia.

Andrea Cecon is a hearing aids technician, a traveller, a haijin published all over the world, and also an ebook apprentice. His first ebook won 3rd place in Sharp Writ Book Awards contest in 2011 (category: poetry). Residing in Cividale, Italy, with his wife, Russian haijin Valeria Simonova-Cecon. He finds his inspiration in memories, travels, and everyday life.

Gary Clarke joined a social media platform to raise awareness about an infrastructure issue in his local area by creating a website at Whaligoe Eye in August, 2021. During this time, he stumbled across a poetry and writing community which provided support and encouragement for his creativity.
