We are on the eve of what may be the single biggest day ever in the history of our country…. I can’t believe we finally made it here. It has been a long four years and what a rough four years it has been!

Tonight I will be praying for my country… that is nothing new for me though. I have prayed every evening for my country since we wound up in this mess. But tonight will be different. I have a chance to ask the Lord specifically about delivering His will for America tomorrow and to finally ask Him to heal our wounds. Tonight will be when I am able to ask for something like that and expect to see some of His work come to light tomorrow.

Regardless of the outcome of the election, I know He will do what He does so well. I know that we will see His work tomorrow amidst the rest of the days events. It may be hard to spot His hand but I expect that will be because He will be competing against man’s free will.There will be some ugly actions that can only be attributed to the nature of mankind who has strayed far from His word and that is ok. It won’t be ok by Him but it will be ok for us to see because that is how we will know just how far we have drifted away. The real healing of our country will begin with the realization of what our ailments are and from that knowledge we must work to bring ourselves closer to Him as a nation again.

Even if Barack Obama wins again, the work starts as the woes are revealed. Tomorrow, we start coming together again. After this election, should Obama be re-elected, then the die is cast and we get to work to undo the damage. Tomorrow, if Romney wins, we take the high road and avoid gloating or acting like we are going to punish anyone. That is the way of the modern left…. the way that God has taught us NOT to go. We become closer to Him tomorrow by using the wisdom we have learned over the last four years while we served Him. If we want to make things right, we act as God would have us act. Righteous and respectful.

I hope we can get this right tomorrow. I hope we get it right with our votes AND our voices. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of our lives… let’s start it off right by Him first.

The facts continue to come to light and they are looking worse and worse for American honor in the office at the highest level. Many bloggers are carrying the details as they break so I won’t go into that, rather I want to take a look at another very momentous time in American history that was also another battle that was never fought. It is recounted by Ronald Reagan in his much celebrated “We Will Be A City Upon A Hill” speech in 1974 and it displays a very powerful difference between courage and cowardice. The latter being President Obama and his apologetic administration bent on increasing American antipathy everywhere.

From Reagan’s speech:

“In the meantime, men who yearned to breathe free were making their way to our shores. Among them was a young refugee from the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He had been a leader in an attempt to free Hungary from Austrian rule. The attempt had failed and he fled to escape execution. In America, this young Hungarian, Koscha by name, became an importer by trade and took out his first citizenship papers. One day, business took him to a Mediterranean port. There was a large Austrian warship under the command of an admiral in the harbor. He had a manservant with him. He had described to this manservant what the flag of his new country looked like. Word was passed to the Austrian warship that this revolutionary was there and in the night he was kidnapped and taken aboard that large ship. This man’s servant, desperate, walking up and down the harbor, suddenly spied a flag that resembled the description he had heard. It was a small American war sloop. He went aboard and told Captain Ingraham, of that war sloop, his story. Captain Ingraham went to the American Consul. When the American Consul learned that Koscha had only taken out his first citizenship papers, the consul washed his hands of the incident. Captain Ingraham said, “I am the senior officer in this port and I believe, under my oath of my office, that I owe this man the protection of our flag.”

He went aboard the Austrian warship and demanded to see their prisoner, our citizen. The Admiral was amused, but they brought the man on deck. He was in chains and had been badly beaten. Captain Ingraham said, “I can hear him better without those chains,” and the chains were removed. He walked over and said to Koscha, “I will ask you one question; consider your answer carefully. Do you ask the protection of the American flag?” Koscha nodded dumbly, “Yes,” and the Captain said, “You shall have it.” He went back and told the frightened consul what he had done. Later in the day three more Austrian ships sailed into harbor. It looked as though the four were getting ready to leave. Captain Ingraham sent a junior officer over to the Austrian flag ship to tell the Admiral that any attempt to leave that harbor with our citizen aboard would be resisted with appropriate force. He said that he would expect a satisfactory answer by four o’clock that afternoon. As the hour neared they looked at each other through the glasses. As it struck four he had them roll the cannons into the ports and had them light the tapers with which they would set off the cannons — one little sloop. Suddenly the lookout tower called out and said, “They are lowering a boat,” and they rowed Koscha over to the little American ship.

Captain Ingraham then went below and wrote his letter of resignation to the United States Navy. In it he said, “I did what I thought my oath of office required, but if I have embarrassed my country in any way, I resign.” His resignation was refused in the United States Senate with these words: “This battle that was never fought may turn out to be the most important battle in our Nation’s history.” Incidentally, there is to this day, and I hope there always will be, a USS Ingraham in the United States Navy.

I did not tell that story out of any desire to be narrowly chauvinistic or to glorify aggressive militarism, but it is an example of government meeting its highest responsibility.”

Now contrast that with what we are learning of the actions of the Obama administration as Benghazi was unfolding. Telling Tyrone Woods and the other CIA operatives to stand down thereby leaving Ambassador Stevens, Sean Smith and the possibility of others in the compound to die is tantamount to absolute leadership failure. I point to Ronald Reagan’s very own words for what we should expect of our government when called upon to render assistance to an American citizen… they are expected to be fearless as “an example of government meeting its highest responsibility”.

Every nation that was involved in some sort of uprising in the “Arab Spring” has turned against us. Are you surprised? These results are what Obama was after with the Arab Spring. He was seeking to strengthen the people of these countries… but what no one cared to ask was who the people were that he wanted to strengthen. He was only out to give aid to the dangerous factions who wanted to oppress the people. Understand this: Obama was a liberator of people whom he felt a kinship with. He sees these people as radicals of change. He does not truly view these people as freedom fighters or people that can work with a democracy. He knows these people well enough to know better. They remind him of himself. He sees these people as folks with a message that hasn’t been given a proper platform in his eyes.

So, who are these radicals of change and what is the change that they are seeking? These people are comprised of members of the Muslim Brotherhood, al Qaeda, and the Taliban. These people are driven by passion(hate is a passion) and that enlivens Obama’s own thirst for change. The change they seek is a “fundamental transformation” of their country. They want to flip their countries upside down and reinvent them, much like what Obama is hoping to do here.

Obama sees himself as an underdog. He thinks he was oppressed and his family was oppressed and now he is fighting for the voices of the oppressed. He believes it is “their turn” and they will oppress the oppressors. As we watch and observe weak rhetoric only overshadowed by silence from Obama, we have to know that this is his way of allowing this to continue. He is employing the same strategy with what is happening overseas right now with how he handled the Occupy protests. He is giving them a platform and allowing them to take control or fail trying.

Essentially, these last four years have been a stall tactic. Rather than a strong America standing for what is right and what is reasonable, we are watching a president allow everyone to throw a temper tantrum. This administration lacks integrity from the very top all the way down through the very bottom. Remember these words: “from the top down, the bottom up, and the inside out”… well that describes where the integrity is lacking in the current administration. To the very core, this group is rotten.

Let’s try a little visual exercise for a moment. Imagine a daycare that has a teacher skip work that day and no one sits in the playroom for the day… all of the kids will scream and throw toys and trash the place. No one is satisfied and no real growth or “progress” is made. Now, think of that daycare choosing one of the kids with behavioral problems to run the playroom. That child will stir the others up into trashing the playroom and then sit back while he watches it all go on with a sense of pride and joy because he created that. Our President sits somewhere between these two analogies. On some days, he is just absent… on other days, he is the pot stirrer. Some days he leads from behind and on other days, he is instigating the mess.

Well, the Middle East is just one great big sand box to this president and America is the main playroom. He is enjoying the rule of the entire daycare and until he is put into time out, we can expect this to continue on unabated. This election is not just about restoring the rule of law in America but it is about restoring stability around the world. We can no longer afford to allow temper tantrums, or even worse, obnoxious kids to bully the sand box and main playroom. It is time to have adults making the decisions again.

When history looks back at this short-lived era of change, I suspect that the people throwing the temper tantrums around the world will be viewed as the arbiters of oppression, not the uprising of the oppressed. I believe the national narrative will eventually return to a more mature tone. It will be a long road to get there because we have adolescents running the presses but even they will be refreshed with new people who actually uphold the profession with integrity.

America needs to restore our integrity. Under this administration, we have repeatedly seen a devolution of our principled leadership in the world. Once upon a time we were the nation that the world looked to for the message, the tone of how an issue should be handled and you know what… the world was far more stable than it is today. Now that we have a president who chooses to lead from behind and to allow the political winds shift we are watching the world spiral out of control. Financially and socio-culturally, the world is in absolute disarray. Returning our integrity will help bring order back to the world but the message has to come from the top and it has to be disbursed by an equally steadfast media.

With all of this class warfare crap that has been the focus for 2 years, I got to thinking… We lost sight of the American Dream. For the last decade we were told that the American Dream was home ownership… a house with a white picket fence. That is not, and has never been,  the American Dream. That is only a marker of where you are on the path of the American Dream, just as owning a car is or having a family is.

The American Dream was all about having an opportunity to achieve. It was the chance – not the promised prize. Just as two homes are never alike because of the families that make up what a home really is, no two American Dreams are alike either. Your vision of life’s successes is not the same as mine just as my vision is not the same as yours. The only similarity in our dreams, our American Dreams, reside in the equal opportunity that we both share.

Driving a wedge of greed, jealousy, and envy between you and I only serves to take away the equality of opportunity for you and I. We will never share equal milestones or markers of success and now, thanks to the class warfare of this administration, we will not share the equal opportunity that we were promised.

This opportunity was the most important thing for us to preserve as a nation. It is what made America’s growth possible. It is what put America at the top of the heap. Today, we are sinking like a rock because someone thinks that to limit one’s ability to achieve in order to make another feel equal is the path to success. No one will ever get ahead and no one will be a motivator for another. True success comes at the expense of hard work, sacrifice, and dedication in the face of resistance while working in with unlimited opportunity.

The greatest part of what success means, though, is not found in financial gain or number of possessions. Success is the realization of your dream and that dream cannot be achieved without unhindered opportunity. No person’s American Dream is more important than any other’s so we cannot continue to treat it that way by creating a “level playing field” where we cap anyone’s success. Capping your ability in order for me to catch up to you robs you of your American Dream and that is not what I should ever want to do.

So… where did we go wrong? —– When we lost sight of the knowledge that “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
