Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus
August 14, 2012 By Rebecca Hamilton 66 Comments
What would it take to make you deny Christ? Would you deny Jesus to save your life? Would you deny Him to save your child’s life? What would it take for you to turn your back on Jesus? Christians die for their faith all over the world, right now, this minute. Christians are raped, splashed with acid, stoned, beheaded, sold into slavery every minute of every day because they refuse to deny Jesus. They are the martyrs of our times, and we, who are not facing martyrdom, do very little to … [Read More…]

| Marriage is a Mess and Homosexuals Didn’t Do It
Posted: 12 Aug 2012 11:00 PM PDT I support traditional marriage. I have a public track record and the scars to prove it. I voted to put an amendment to the Oklahoma Constitution on the ballot that defined marriage as between one man and one woman. I also authored and passed a resolution memorializing Congress to begin hearings on an amendment to […]

| Stop Slogan-Voting. Stop Hate-Voting. Stop Being Manipulated. Part 7. Democracy = We Are Responsible
Posted: 30 Jul 2012 11:29 AM PDT Democracy is not a lazy person’s form of government. If your idea of good citizenship is watching the dissolution of our society from the sidelines like an insomniac staring at a late-night movie, you need to move to a dictatorship. Democracy is too much work for you. “The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.” Contrary […]

Now, each of these women are struggling to come to terms with both their grief and their gratitude.” I appreciate ABC News running […]

I decided to re-blog this post for Public Catholic’s debut on Patheos. I think it lays it on the line where I stand on some important issues as well as any one post can. The post is: Marriage Is A Mess and Homosexuals Didn’t Do It.
Remember: If you want to follow Public Catholic, you need to do so from the Patheos site. You can do it by several ways. I’m recommending just signing up to get Public Catholic by email because that’s the way I prefer to get it. But you can also get it by RSS feed, through Twitter, or on Facebook. You can find ways to sign up on the right hand column on this page: Public Catholic.
Also, the only way you “likes” or comments will show is if you make them on Patheos.
]]>Public Catholic will have its formal debut on Patheos tomorrow!
I’ll continue to post links here as long as I can. But I won’t be able to do that for much longer. There are a few things you need to know about this process.
1. Nothing posted here, including your comments and likes, will show up over there.
2. Be sure to “follow” Public Catholic from over there. There is a place where you can sign up to get new posts by email the same way you do now. It’s on the right hand side of the page. Here’s the link: https://www.patheos.com/blogs/publiccatholic/
3. Click on “like” over there instead of here. That’s the only way your opinion will register.
4. If you are a new follower (anyone who’s signed up since last Thursday, August 9th is “new”) then you need to click on this link: https://www.patheos.com/blogs/publiccatholic/ and sign up to follow from over there. Just sign up in the box on the right hand side of the page that says “Follow Public Catholic by email.”
The only reason you are getting new posts is because I’ve been putting a link here. I don’t know if I’ll be able to continue doing that or not.
5. I have the same freedom to write what I want on Patheos that we have here on WordPress. I intend to keep right on with what we’ve been building here.
6. If you want to link to what I write on Patheos, feel free.
I am excited about this change. I think we can use Public Catholic as a platform to build an online community of Christians who are on fire about building a culture of life and standing up for Jesus. Patheos gives us a wider platform for doing that.
Have a blessed Sunday!
In Christ,
Rebecca

]]>After the Election Comes the Scary Part
August 9, 2012 By Rebecca Hamilton Leave a Comment
After the election comes the scary part. It was a long time ago, but I remember it well. I won my first election over 30 years ago, before I met my husband, before my religious conversion, when I was at the height of my anti-religion period. I won the election by defeating a 16-year incumbent most political deep-thinkers regarded as “unbeatable.” A couple of weeks later, I got a notice that I needed to show up at the Capitol to be sworn in. A friend of mine took me out and bought me a suit … [Read More…]
