WordPress Origin Story
My first WordPress site was a WPMU 1.2.1 install in April 2007 for a church website to consolidate all blogs I set up as a volunteer for church ministries under one admin dashboard: four Greymatter (CGI) blogs in 2002 and then four previously available self-hosted Blogger blogs set up in mid-2003.
I had previously checked out and was successful in importing all blogs into Lyceum and Pivot multiblog softwares then, but I didn’t like the permalink structures of either one at all. So when I found WP Multi-User which was easy to install and generated my preferred permalink structure, I was so happy that I had to thank the developers 🙂 https://mu.wordpress.org/forums/topic/4941
Since then, I’ve contributed back to WordPress, BuddyPress, and bbPress whenever and wherever I can. It’s a good thing to do 🙂
