Bio
As a seasoned software developer, I bring a breadth and depth of knowledge and skills for creating database-driven PHP web applications. I’ve spent much of my career on the backend—from customizing CMSs like Drupal and WordPress, to using frameworks like Laravel to develop Web Applications. Previously, I organized the Pacific Northwest PHP Conference and the Seattle PHP User Group. I’ve spoken at multiple WordCamps, and more recently at PHP Tek. I pride myself on my ability to communicate technical ideas to non-technical people. I’m passionate about technology and creating software, and helping others do the same.
Former Seattle, Current New Yorker.

WordPress Origin Story
I wanted to create a website for myself, as well as a blog where I can write. It needed to be something I can use professionally, but also a place where I can have fun with it, and try things out. So I titled my website “For Work and Play”. I think it was WordPress 2.7, which IIRC was shortly before the Custom Post Types were added.
