As I wandered along a service road in an industrial estate on the outskirts of Prague this fine March morning, I happened upon a discarded child’s ski pass. I paused briefly, gazed upon this grimy piece of card, then continued on my merry way. As soon as I climbed aboard the bus to my next destination, I realised I had made a fatal error. Next time I travel along that path, the ski pass will no longer be there. It will have been swept up by the wind, or by street cleaners, or washed away by a spring downpour, or damaged beyond recognition. Hence my decision to start this photoblog. I intend to use it to capture the detritus of Prague as I travel around. To catch the temporary contemporary antiques of life in the metropolis. I have only a few rules: firstly, the item(s) must be within the Prague metropolitan area; secondly, they cannot be in the direct vicinity of a rubbish bin or recycling bin; thirdly, the photos will be wholly amateur and captured on my mobile phone; finally, no faecal matter. Apart from these rules, I shall seek to capture the full, deep, ripe variety of detritus this city has to offer — in the discarded transience lies a truth.

That’s a lot of effort for trash. I applaud your effort, my good man!
