Behold His Glory

Gaze on dappled day

October celebrates hope

faithfulness of God:

Light plays in grieved world—

dance ‘mid shadows, sun on leaves

despair can’t discount

God’s glory…power e’er glows

Psalm 18:28
For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. (King James Bible)

For You cause my lamp to be lighted and to shine; The LORD my God illumines my darkness. (Amplified Bible)

You Are What You Eat (whatever that means)

Esther Chilton asks:  “Can you tell a story in 26 words using the following words in it somewhere?”

ORGANIC  CATERPILLAR  SUDOKU

https://estherchilton.co.uk/2025/10/16/can-you-tell-a-story-in-309/

One guy:  “I swear on my grandmother’s bible…I saw a caterpillar working a sudoku!”

Other guy:  “you need to quit eating all that organic crud”.

Angry Sky

Rain comes like a rant

loud spewing against window

rivulets of rage

even the sky is angry

at world gone mad, devolving

Murderous Need, a Noir 6SS

Six Sentence Stories is a weekly writing gig hosted by Denise Farley—her prompt word this week was “NEED”.  Click her link above for more information.

Like it or not (I don’t), Halloween’s coming, so my mind went to the dark side.

♠♠♠♠♠♠

There was a murder just outside the tall wide gates—blood savagely too-generously splashed against the stately white wrought iron.

People huddled the way they do, in little clutches, whispering—how could this happen in their elite neighborhood of wealth and class-distinction.

You know them: they live in a strange and ridiculous bubble of naive, or arrogant just-plain-stupid, self-importance.

Crumpled against the bars of the locked entrance to the manse was a young woman—whatever she’d been 24 hours ago, she was now reduced to, well…nothing but an ordinary corpse defiled by violence.

Detectives and photographers dodged one another, attempting to get up close and personal to do their jobs— “it’s a shame”, one of them murmured; “what a mess”, said another.

One figure, obscured by others hovering at the perimeter of yellow crime tape, wore no expression as he observed the professional activity of human maggots; the voice inside him said, “she needed love…I needed to kill.”

His Eye Is On the Sparrow

Away then with fear; you are more precious than a multitude of sparrows.  Matt 10:31 (Weymouth New Testament)

Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? Yet not one of them has [ever] been forgotten in the presence of God. Luke 12:6 (Amplified Bible)

I will instruct thee, and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with my eye.  Psalm 32:8 (Webster’s Bible Translation)

Night Symphony

Night’s rain symphony

fills puddles to overflow

sleep waits permission

to fall upon, wrap ’round soul

shush away gone yester-dreams

Loss That Lives

There is loss… and there’s

loss that lives within, pulses

never rests nor dies

it’s ache pierces average day

tears, severs dusk like lightning ~

loss of loved strangers

known only by their stories

faces imagined

…they leave shadows on the heart

unwitting, no less weighted ~

weeping at mem’ry

the sense they’re not so different

from what mirror shows

(perhaps I’m a loss to them

if they see beyond Death’s veil) ~

loss consumes midnight

rhythmic rain playing soft dirge

absent lyrics, mute ~

Night-Shift Angels

For Aubrey ~

Where angels guard night

children sleep in innocence

no matter their age ~

whisper of wings sweeps away

unjust burdens, banishments

angels carry lamps

filled with God’s endless glory

let no nightmare land ~
