./meta-pkgs/suse100, SUSE-based Linux binary emulation environment
[
Branch: CURRENT, Version: 10.0nb5, Package name: suse-10.0nb5, Maintainer: pkgsrc-users
The SUSE 10.0 meta-package provides a number of components for a
SUSE-based Linux binary emulation environment.
This package does not contain anything by itself -- it is a "meta-package"
that depends on other packages. Its sole purpose is to require
dependencies so users can install this package only and have all the
other packages pulled in automatically by the pkgsrc dependency
mechanism.
Required to run:
[emulators/suse100_fontconfig] [emulators/suse100_libtiff] [emulators/suse100_openmotif] [emulators/suse100_freetype2] [emulators/suse100_aspell] [emulators/suse100_expat] [emulators/suse100_glx] [emulators/suse100_libcups] [emulators/suse100_locale] [emulators/suse100_slang] [emulators/suse100_x11] [emulators/suse100_gtk2] [emulators/suse100_openssl] [emulators/suse100_compat] [emulators/suse100_libjpeg] [emulators/suse100_libpng] [emulators/suse100_base] [emulators/suse100_libxml2]

Log message: Drop gdk-pixbuf, gtk and vmware modules for suse. * gdk-pixbuf and gtk are not used anywhere in pkgsrc and suse>10.0 does not support them. * vmware module was used for emulators/vmware* packages, but it had been removed from pkgsrc. |

Log message:
* If PLIST_SRC is explicitly set to an empty value in a package Makefile,
then automatically generate a PLIST that says "${PKGNAME} has no files".
* If PLIST_SRC and GENERATE_PLIST are not set in a package Makefile,
and no PLIST files exist, then fail during the package build with
PKG_FAIL_REASON.
* Remove "intentionally empty" PLISTs again.
Now, the easy way to say that a package installs no files is to just
add the following to the package Makefile:
PLIST_SRC= # empty

Log message: Re-add "intentionally empty" PLISTs for meta-packages and other packages that directly manipulate empty PLISTs. Modify plist/plist.mk so that if the PLIST files are missing and no GENERATE_PLIST is defined, then the package fails to build. |

Log message: Remove empty PLISTs from pkgsrc since revision 1.33 of plist/plist.mk can handle packages having no PLIST files. |

Log message:
* Add new emulator framework in pkgsrc/mk/emulator that handles all
binary-only packages that require binary "emulation" on the native
operating system. Please see pkgsrc/mk/emulator/README for more
details.
* Teach the plist framework to automatically use any existing
PLIST.${EMUL_PLATFORM} as part of the default PLIST_SRC definition.
* Convert all of the binary-only packages in pkgsrc to use the
emulator framework. Most of them have been tested to install and
deinstall correctly. This involves the following cleanup actions:
* Remove use of custom PLIST code and use PLIST.${EMUL_PLATFORM}
more consistently.
* Simplify packages by using default INSTALL and DEINSTALL scripts
instead of custom INSTALL/DEINSTALL code.
* Remove "SUSE_COMPAT32" and "PKG_OPTIONS.suse" from pkgsrc.
Packages only need to state exactly which emulations they support,
and the framework handles any i386-on-x86_64 or sparc-on-sparc64
uses.
* Remove "USE_NATIVE_LINUX" from pkgsrc. The framework will
automatically detect when the package is installing on Linux.
Specific changes to packages include:
* Bump the PKGREVISIONs for all of the suse100* and suse91* packages
due to changes in the +INSTALL/+DEINSTALL scripts used in all
of the packages.
* Remove pkgsrc/emulators/suse_linux, which is unused by any
packages.
* cad/lc -- remove custom code to create the distinfo file for
all supported platforms; just use "emul-fetch" and \
"emul-distinfo"
instead.
* lang/Cg-compiler -- install the shared libraries under ${EMULDIR}
instead of ${PREFIX}/lib so that compiled programs will find
the shared libraries.
* mail/thunderbird-bin-nightly -- update to latest binary
distributions for supported platforms.
* multimedia/ns-flash -- update Linux version to 9.0.48 as the
older version is no longer available for interactive fetch.
* security/uvscan -- set LD_LIBRARY_PATH explicitly so that
it's not necessary to install library symlinks into
${EMULDIR}/usr/local/lib.
* www/firefox-bin-flash -- update Linux version to 9.0.48 as the
older version is no longer available for interactive fetch.
