To create a good album cover in the hip-hop community you need to understand what the rapper is about. Is his music violent, political or sexual, and from there you need to create a photo that reflects the image that the rapper portrays in the music he or she had made.
Take for example one of my clients Young Hinus. His music has titles like ” Crush a Haters Face In”, “Keep My Name Out Yo Mouth”, and “Put Down Your Weapons”.
First when creating posters for the promotion of the musician you need to take a picture that can have text applied to it and not take away from the image itself.
Here are some poster examples before the image is comleted.

Here are the same two images comleted with text and ready to mass marketed to the public so that they can be ready for Young Hinus’s upcoming album.
While were talking album covers the image itself needs to be eye catching but still not seem threatening to the average public.
Here is an example of an image to turn into one concept of the album cover for Young Hinus.
Here the same image ready to become an album cover.
This was a quick crash course in hip-hop photography. Keep a look out for the next post on Urban Fashion.
