Penistone Line Partnership is a not-for-profit community rail organisation and a member of the Community Rail Network.

We promote and encourage greater use of the train through engagement with local communities between and within Sheffield, Barnsley, and Huddersfield.

The Penistone Line incorporates 17 stations along the 27- mile scenic route.

We deliver a range of projects and activities on the train, at stations and in the areas near the Penistone Line to provide social, environmental, and economic benefits to the region’s residents and visitors. We also educate young people on rail safety, trespass, sustainability, and promote career opportunities in the rail industry.

Penistone Line Partnership’s aims are to deliver the 4 pillars of the Community Rail Strategy

  • Providing a voice for the community
  • Promoting sustainable, healthy, and accessible travel
  • Bringing communities together and supporting diversity and inclusion
  • Supporting social and economic development

It’s much more than a train ride!

Scenic Rail Britain aims to help tourists, day-trippers, & families, travelling from near & far, to access the country’s hidden gems, while travelling sustainably & avoiding the stresses of driving. At Community Rail Network, we see the lovely sights that community railways have to offer every day. We want to share that with more people & promote these amazing railway lines, which form such an important part of our heritage.
