I’ve only recently discovered your blog, and a good read it is too. Your discussion of bliss and colour here is interesting. One thing that you don’t consider is how often huge paintings like Olitski’s fill the viewer’s vision to aid that bliss, something which I am wary of as a kind of visual bullying [bad phrase]. I like to be able to choose what I focus on and look at [I’m aware i dont have to engage with big paintings or any paintings at all…]. I remember discussing this with Bert Irvin, who agreed to a point, but wanted the joy and bliss in his work to enwrap and engage the viewer. Anyway, looks like an interesting exhibition – Lucy Cox’s and Jeff Dellow’s work is especially appealing to me.
