About the PGR
Founded in 2005 to shield families of fallen heroes from those that would disrupt the services of their loved ones, the Patriot Guard Riders has grown to include thousands of members across all 50 states in the US. We are a 100% volunteer 501(c)(3) organization.
There is no charge for the Patriot Guard Riders to honor a funeral with their presence.
As our membership has grown, so has the scope of our mission. We also honor first responders as well as our military veterans. Additionally we have an active Help On The Homefront (HOTH) program, which provides assistance to our veterans and their families.

Theodore B. Knapp’s Funeral
I cannot say enough about the Patriot Guard Riders and the profound respect they showed our family while honoring our father, Theodore B. Knapp. From the moment they became involved, every detail was handled with dignity, precision, and deep reverence for his service and sacrifice.
Following the funeral Mass at St. Margaret Mary, the Patriot Guard Riders escorted our father’s remains in the hearse to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. They stood guard with flags, rode in formation with motorcycles and a Jeep proudly displaying the American flag, and ensured our family was protected and cared for every step of the way. They stopped traffic at intersections, creating a safe, solemn passage that allowed us to grieve without worry.
At the cemetery, they continued to stand guard over our father, maintaining a respectful and honorable presence. They also presented a flag to our family, a deeply meaningful gesture that we will always cherish. Their actions spoke volumes about their compassion, professionalism, and commitment to honoring those who have served.
The honor they gave our father—and the kindness they showed our family—will never be forgotten. We are profoundly grateful to the Patriot Guard Riders for their service, their respect, and the powerful tribute they provided during one of the most difficult moments of our lives.
Sincerely,
The Theodore B. Knapp Family

The Patriot Guard was absolutely wonderful.
Captain Bill took the mission and didn’t miss anything.
The whole team was the best and showed military standards wonderfully.
I know the family appreciated every bit of the ceremony and said numerous times that Tom would have loved this.
Thank you so much for being on target with everything from the planning to the escort to the flag line and the honor that each member showed.
I will certainly be a part of many more missions to come.
God Bless the Patriot Guard and the USA.

To have these True Heroes, who bravely served our country, riding with us in the funeral procession from Wachusett Mountain to the Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery; to have them with us for my Father’s committal service in the Chapel; and then stand at the exit of the Chapel as the family departed, was an overwhelming honor! My Father would have been deeply moved!
I wish I could rewind back to these moments yesterday so each of us, the family, could give each and every one of you standing outside the Chapel door a huge hug and thank you for your service! Each one of you deserve so much more than that for your sacrifice, and for your bravery! Thank you!!! ???? ❤️❤️❤️

To be honest, I don’t think I would have made it through that day in one piece if it wasn’t for Jerry (the Ride Captain for my Father’s service) and the rest of the Patriot Guard Riders members who showed up in force to pay their respects for my Father’s service. I admired their warm personalities and willingness to be there for us. Jerry was more than happy to let me talk his ears off and answer any of my questions.
I was so moved by the level of respect paid to us and my Father that I was on my PC that night, still wiping away tears but heart brimming with pride, researching how I might be able to stand with these incredible heroes. I am not a vet, at the time I didn’t even have a bike. But every bit of me wanted to be able to give other families the gift I had been given on that warm September day. When I found out that neither service or a motorcycle were required, I signed up immediately. One week from the day of my Father’s funeral, I was standing alongside Jerry and the rest of the Wisconsin Patriot Guard Riders at the same funeral home, showing my respect for another Veteran. It’s been three years and almost 70 missions. I still stand whenever I can – often as a Ride Captain for these missions. I’m so grateful to call the rest of my fellow Patriot Guard Riders members, friends. They are everything to me, and so is our mission. I’m proud to be a Patriot Guard Rider!

Dear Dean,
I want to express my sincere gratitude to you and the Patriot Guard Riders. Your commitment to my father, Eldon Willis on May 15, 2025 was overwhelmingly honorable. I was welcome to lead to precession on my bike, though I was not prepared for the others that sacrificed their time and were already in place, standing for one who stood for us.
I commend the purpose of you and your team, not able to thank them enough. Dad’s burial ceremony was beautiful and special, contributing to a greater level of peace for my family.
Please express my thankfulness to all the great Veterans that participated that day.
With much appreciation and admiration,

The purpose of this message is to explain how it felt as a family member when my father and mother in was interned on 1 August 2025. He was retired Air Force veteran that served in Vietnam. My wife and I are both veterans that served in the Army. As we sat at the service , watching the Patriot Guard conduct them themselves as professional. Taking the time to honor individuals that are total strangers says so much about their character. Definitely gives you a different perspective when you receive that honor from the Patriot Guard. As always for our service and today’s mission, Paul (ride captain) excellent job!

Charles “Charlie” Schmidt
I’d like to thank the local Patriot Guard in the Rochester Ny area for the send off and support of their former Member Charles Schmidt, my Uncle. It was such a shame the people these days have no clue what a Funeral procession is something to be honored and respected. We need to get back to a Nation that understands this. My Grand Daughter Cassidy Proulx was my Uncle’s riding partner on his Harley Trike. She was given possession of my Uncles Patriot Guard Leather Vest. I just HAD to send a message of thanks even though I cannot write one and send one. The PGR made my Dads funeral even more beautiful, and for that I am so grateful and thankful! What a superior job they did! It just warms my heart so very much. I could not have asked for it to turn out better! I did not even think of the PGR until a friend of mine, Johnny Vinson asked me if I’d requested them. If he would not have asked me, I’d probably not have had them. William E Bessette, US Army Vietnam Veteran
I was overly moved by your presence for my husband Sgt Bill Bessette; I had to move ahead of time and out of step (sorry) to personally thank each and every one of you. It’s a great service you all do and I know Bill would tear up from it, especially as you know there was no Hero Welcome for him when he returned home, but that didn’t break him he moved on and did another hero act when he captured two escaped prisoners from Fishkill Correctional Facility without a weapon, so was truly happy when his backup came quickly. He enjoyed sharing that story. He was my Hero for many years.
Thank you so much for your good service may you all keep rising above strong!
Proudly and sincerely,
Mrs. Iris Bessette
Robert Birmingham’s Funeral – Flag Line on 9/1/2023
Robert Birmingham’s funeral service at the Jacksonville National Cemetery was yesterday. We were so touched with the flag line the Patriot Guard performed for him and his family. The coin you presented to his wife, Mary was beautiful and will be treasured for years. She showed me this morning the card you gave her yesterday. It brought me to tears when I read on the front cover – Hero Down, Kickstands Up. There were other veterans attending the service, both family and friends. However, civilians who attended will probably never be able to fully comprehend how much this meant to… Read more “Robert Birmingham’s Funeral – Flag Line on 9/1/2023”

Henry Jourdan Finerfrock
To the Patriot Guard Riders,
Thank you to each of you who participated in the Honor Mission for my father, Henry Jourdan Finerfrock.
You all drove many miles on a chilly March day to honor Daddy and help me, my family and my friends say goodbye.
He only wanted a graveside service, and it was quite a wonderful celebration of his 97 years.
I hoped to talk with everyone and say “thank you”, but that was not possible.
Daddy would have enjoyed talking with each of you about your time of service and your motorcycle.
He told me there was a Harley-Davidson store in Harrisburg, PA that he walked past on his way to a job he had as a teenager.
He said there is nothing like a Harley-Davidson.
Be safe on the roads as you attend your next Honor Mission.
I am not a motorcycle rider, but I will be joining you as a new member one day.
Blessings,
Janet L. Finerfrock
