You may have seen the post on here regarding the generous distribution of funds by our Horticultural Society. One of the beneficiaries is the blog for which we offer our heartfelt thanks!
The blog team endeavour to provide a service to the village, be that advertising forthcoming events, news on happenings around the village or just photos of village life. Whilst run by volunteers and the basic WordPress tools we use to create and manage the blog are free, we do incur a number of charges annually to cover things such as hosting, web address mapping and additional storage for photos and documents. For this reason donations, large or small, from organisations or individuals are always most welcome!

1916. As World War I rages on the Western Front, the Choral Society in Ramsden, Yorkshire has lost most of its men to the army. The Choral’s ambitious committee, determined to press ahead, decides to recruit local young males to swell their ranks. They must also engage a new chorus master, and despite their suspicions that he has something to hide, their best bet seems to be Dr. Henry Guthrie (Ralph Fiennes) – driven, uncompromising, and recently returned from a career in Germany. As conscription papers start to arrive, the whole community discovers that the best response to the chaos that is laying waste to their lives is to make music together.
Directed by Nicholas Hytner and written by BAFTA and Tony-winning playwright, author and screenwriter Alan Bennett

The lane between Fouffinside and Hill Top Farm is blocked by a large branch. Maybe passable by some rugged vehicles.

Info from District Council:-
BIN COLLECTIONS have started slightly later this morning (Monday, 5th January), due to the current conditions on the roads with ice and snow.
Crews will be concentrating on the main roads initially, until the weather warms up. Therefore, collections could be delayed. You can help us resume normal collections quicker by following these tips:
Collection staff will attempt to empty bins where contents are frozen. If bins are not emptied due to compacted or frozen contents, or if collections have not been made because containers were full of snow and ice, please release the frozen contents and remove the snow and ice before adding more waste. We will not return to collect items frozen at the bottom of your bin.
Please remember – refuse/recycling lorries weigh up to 26 tonnes and the drivers must ensure complete safety of pedestrians, property and other vehicles when deciding if to collect from a street during snow and icy conditions. If your bin is not collected today – please do not report this, as the bin collection may be delayed due to the weather. Please leave your bin out.
REMINDER – If you subscribe to Garden Waste Collections – please note these are suspended for 2 weeks – 29th December to 9th January inclusive.

The village Christmas tree has now been taken down and sawed into reasonable sizes if anyone wants them for their animals please feel free to take them. Please note the ground is currently too frozen for us to dig out the electrical wire near the back of the green so please be careful when walking over that you don’t trip. It will be removed as soon as the ground has slightly softened.
