India’s history is very complex and spans a vast amount of time. When we go back in time to very ancient periods of Indian history, there is a mixture of both mythology and history and everything becomes fuzzy. For example, if you try to answer the question, when did the Mahabharata war happen, you will get dates ranging from 3000 BC to 1000 BC.
In my blog, I keep track of various events in Indian history which are reported in the press as well as information obtained from books I read. This page is maintained to keep track of all those events in the context of what was happening in the world at that time. The left side of the table shows only the events listed in my blog and hence is sparse. This timeline follows the same pattern as Yashwant Malaiya’s excellent Jain History Timeline
