THE OPEN SOURCE Robotics Alliance
Powering the world’s robots
The Open Source Robotics Alliance (OSRA, the Alliance) is an initiative of the OSRF to organize and strengthen project governance and community involvement.
- The OSRA is a mixed membership and meritocratic model, following other successful foundations for open-source projects.
- This Alliance will enable the community to participate in the technical governance of OSRF projects, provide funding to support those projects, and contribute to growth in contributions and adoption.

What our members are saying
We are grateful to have received early support for the OSRA vision from these valued members of the robotics community.
Dev Singh
Vice President of Business Development and Head of Robotics & Industrial Automation, Qualcomm Technologies
“PickNik was founded to grow the MoveIt open source project, so it has always been a major advocate of ROS. We’re proud to be part of the inaugural members of the OSRA.”
Dave Coleman
CEO, PickNik
“In an era where technology unites and shapes futures, the creation of the Open Source Robotics Alliance stands as a landmark move toward making cutting-edge robotics universally accessible.
ZettaScale is thrilled to back this venture, aiming to spur innovation and foster a future where advanced robotics is not just a privilege, but a shared resource for all.”
Angelo Corsaro
CEO, Zettascale
“ROS and other Open Robotics initiatives have significantly impacted the commercialization of robotics.
Utilizing shared architectures like ROS enables robotics companies to accelerate commercial and venture funding success. Availing of this incredible resource is enabled by the investment of time and effort from the community, led by Open Robotics.
Silicon Valley Robotics’ mission is to support the innovation and commercialization of robotics technologies in research, startups, and industry. We have always been huge supporters of Open Robotics’ work.”
Andra Keay
Managing Director, Silicon Valley Robotics
“NVIDIA develops with ROS 2 to bring accelerated computing and AI to developers, researchers
and commercial applications.
As an inaugural platinum member of OSRA, we will collaborate to advance open-source
robotics throughout the ecosystem by aiding development efforts and providing governance
and continuity.”
Gordon Grigor
VP Robotics Software, NVIDIA
“From the numerous contributions made by our team at Intrinsic across projects like ROS, Gazebo, and Open-RMF as part of the Open Robotics community, to our acquisition of the Open Source Robotics Corporation (OSRC), we’ve invested deeply in the open source community, and we look forward to continuing our support of the ecosystem as an inaugural member of the OSRA.”
Wendy Tan White
CEO, Intrinsic
“As an active member of this community, Ekumen has been contributing to Gazebo and ROS projects since the very early days. We are excited to continue strengthening our partnership with Open Robotics and the robotics community by expanding our collaboration. Thanks OSRF for making this happen!”
Guillermo Manzato
CEO, Ekumen
“Apex.AI supports the Open Source Robotics Alliance (OSRA) to promote a business ecosystem around ROS, which is the backbone of our core product Apex.Grace. Apex.Grace is a fork of ROS 2, which has been made reliable and real-time and is safety-certified according to ISO 26262 ASIL D. A vendor-neutral home to provide technical oversight and to govern ROS and the surrounding ecosystem is critical for widespread adoption and continued success.”
Jan Becker
CEO and Co-Founder, Apex.AI
“We are excited to join OSRA and believe that this collaboration reflects our commitment to advancing the field of robotics and open innovation. As one of the leaders of autonomous robotics, we recognize the importance of developing stable ecosystems for open source software, ensuring their longevity and fostering industry-wide cooperation.
By being a member of OSRA, we are not only investing in the future of robotics but also utilizing our expertise to actively contribute to technical governance and decision-making processes.”
Bryan Webb
President, Clearpath Robotics
Our Projects
The OSRF has assigned the governance of the following open source projects under its stewardship to the OSRA.
We invite all members of the open source robotics software community to join us in this endeavor.
