Watching NOLA Nature
About
Hi, I’m Carla and I created this little blog to share photos of the natural beauty of New Orleans and nearby locations. I’ve always been a “nature girl” and I find that bringing my camera and taking pictures helps to keep me tuned in to the changing rhythms of the seasons. I like the challenge of focusing on the natural even though I live in a city. I’m a former science teacher, so I also enjoy “teaching” a little bit through my posts.
I hope you enjoy my photos and that they help you look out the window in your own neighborhood to appreciate the little things that change every season. Don’t hesitate to press the like button or leave a comment if you see something you enjoy; I appreciate the feedback!
All photos are taken by me, using an Olympus stylus 850SW – a tiny camera that is shock and waterproof. I purchased this camera for an Appalachian Trail thru-hike that I completed in 2009 and loved it for its light weight and versatility, and mostly because it’s shock and water proof. Occasionally I take photos with a better camera that has more zoom capability; a Sony Cybershot DSC-H7.
Please don’t copy or use without either asking permission or crediting me with a link – much appreciated! Oh, unless you’re working on a school project and need a pic to print and put on your posterboard – then feel free to use the images!

Carla,
The pictures are wonderful; thank you so much.
Shall e-mail you about getting together.
Love,
Georgia
Thanks, Georgia!
This is beautiful, Carla! I remember when you first told me about these trees as we were driving back across the lake on a rather more sombre occasion.
I miss you at McGehee, but I am so happy to hear that you have taken the saying, “carpe diem” to heart.
Love and best wishes,
Gillian
Thank you, Gillian! I remember too – the trees were all aglow in fall color, though it was January. Thanks for the good wishes and all the best to you too!
Enjoy your hiking, Carla! I hope you take lots of beautiful pictures, and look forward to you resuming this blog when you return!
Thanks, Destin!
These are great. Love seeing some views from home. Thanks for helping Rachel’s dream come true.
Thanks, Sharla!
