Note: This is not a photo blog of people reading on NYC’s subway system. It is a chronicle of the thoughts that arise from working at a busy reference desk, riding my bike, walking the dog, and reading articles on the computer.
I’m a librarian, but this is not, strictly speaking, a “Library Blog.” There are so many great library blogs out there and I have found that I am much happier reading them than contributing directly to the conversation. Instead, I prefer to highlight the collection, community, and culture surrounding my public library world. The Public Library is, let’s face it, the last bastion of public space left in the nation. It is a free and open channel to the reality of our culture at a time when our culture and our perceived reality is becoming more fragmented. That said, readers will notice that I link to library catalogs instead of booksellers when discussing book titles (although I will link to a local bookseller-finder when I can).
