For today:
Outside my window: cloudy, my resident meteorologist Sam says it’s going to rain in the next 3 hours. Mid 60’s this week.
Gratitude: so grateful for my boys and good husband, jobs and comfortable home, for health and God in our lives.
Wearing: jeans, a Life is Good shirt and knee socks with sketchers.
Creating: doing a lot of coloring lately, inspired by easy Zentangles and my watercolor set.
Wondering: if I should buy a grain mill. Have wanted one for a long time but could not justify the cost. Went to a homeschool convention last week. I wish I knew someone who had one……I’m not buying a Bosch. Have a professional Kitchenaid mixer I love.
Reading: books for work, one about psychopharmacology and another about 1:1 therapy as well as looking over my new DSM-5. Interesting bedtime reading…..
Hoping: for a good week.
Learning: whatever is lost will usually be found. Sam’s Kindle is MIA.
Pondering: that I love art and writing and I am always disappointed when my boys don’t like either.
In my kitchen: trying to vary the offerings. Maybe salmon on the grill or a seafood dump this week. In a large pot put crab boil bag (McCormick) and a tablespoon or so of Old Bay seasoning. Cut up potatoes, red are good and boil to nearly done. Then add chicken in bite sized pieces, corn on the cob broken up, andouli sausage, about 3 links, Johnsonville brand. Bring to a boil and put in cooked frozen shrimp for 3 minutes. Strain and dump onto a platter. Get the butter for the potatoes and some lime juice for all over and yell “let’s eat”. Watch the fixins disappear. Use your cooking skill to make sure chicken does not overlook and potatoes are not mushy. Other seafood can be added, this is as fancy as we get.
Quote: Love this, it was on my Facebook, but has a source.
Peek into my days: dentist chair today for a cleaning, Aldi for more milk and other food, lunch with a friend tomorrow and work 3 days this week. Get Sam back into homeschool swing, yes, I work, he uses BJU videos and he is 12 and a pleasure to work with. Glad I get this time with just him, he is my youngest, older boys are in high school.
Favorite things: essential oils, jewelry from James Avery I got for my birthday and matching shirts me and hubby got over the weekend. Since he has a big project around our anniversary, we are doing fun things on the weekends leading up to May 6. It will be 25 years.
