Ive just taken my weave out and found that things such as keracare essential oils does wonders for your hair. Makes it soft and bouncy and absorbs well without leavin that grease patch you get wen u lie down or watever. Im cant beleive they make grease for RELAXED HAIR!! All it does is make it thin and obviously stunt the growth. But ive never been so proud to have natural hair and knowin the Right things it needs. The only downside is washing it. Its hell on my head 😦

HI! I LOVE THIS SITE AND I LOVE WHAT YOU DO ENCOURAGING US BLACK SISTAS ABOUT OUR HAIR.
I was natural for 10 years of entering this world. From age 10-22 it was on and off with relaxers. Hair break, i grow it out then start again and it became a vicious cycle. But 1 day at 22 i decided enough was enough, these relaxers are breaking my long hair which i use to have and never reached that length again whilst relaxed. So i went natural for 7 LONG YEARS! But 7 years of no knowledge of what to do with my hair so hid behind weaves. My hair grew back but i was still clueless on styles and what to do,,soooo after 7 long years,, i relaxed AGAIN last summer in July.WORST MOVE EVER! THIS TIME I USED A MILD RELAXER AND I HAVE NEVER USED A MILD RELAXER BEFORE..Within 6 weeks, hair breaking!!? I THINK MY HAIR WAS IN SHOCK! lol, NEVER HAS MY HAIR BROKE THAT QUICKLY BEFORE. GIVE IT 6-8 MONTHS, OR THE LONGEST WAS A YEAR WITHOUT BREAKAGE,,BUT 6 WEEKS??!! AND I DID IT ALL, SATIN SCARF SEALING THE ENDS, D C, ETC ETC I DID ALL MY RESEARCH. Anyways, 6 months of transitioning i big chopped again the 1st week of january and my hair is back to how it looked when i was like 5 years of age. THICK FULL AND HEALTHY AND GROWING FAST.
My question is, is it normal to grow different lengths of hair? My hair has always grown in layers. Top half always shorter than bottom half, or left side always grows fuller and slightly longer than right side. Its not terrible, but i am fussy. bottom half will always be half an inch to an inch longer than the rest of my hair..Can anyone else relate to this? I refuse to cut it as i use to before but still same old. I have cut it evenly and i now know starting from scratch that it wasn’t the weaves or the trims at the hairdressers, nor my fault, its just how my hair is. I guess i’m asking cos it would be reassuring to know i’m not the only 1.

i absolutely agree with this post(and you). petroleum, mineral oil based products do nothing but coat the hair shaft, making it impossible for your hair to receive the correct moisture it needs. another product to stay away from is OIL SHEEN; im actually gonna do a review on that on my website. and ive been on a natural hair care journey for a year now, and LET ME TELL YOU!!! im loving it! i wear hair extensions alot just to be able to style my hair like i want it, avoiding heat as much as possible and sew ins have really helped my hair growth. i really like mizani, and argan oil hair products.
i know its lots of ladies out there going thru the big chop, or even just struggling with their natural hair. the right products, moisture, and care will do it. i think sew ins/ hair extensions are actually a good protective hair style. ]]>

Either time…after you wash. Probably better at night so it has a chance to saturate better.
]]>Usually during the winter months hair becomes dryer thus needing more moisture. I would not recommend wetting your hair and then going outside during the winter months. How often do you deep condition and/or do hot oil treatments?

Hi Nappyme! I have had this problem before and the shampoo that the dr gave to me did not work. My suggestion is to use Hollywood Tea Tree Oil. You can get it from Dollar General stores and is very effective!! I put drops of it on my scalp and cleared up in a couple of days. You can also use it with your carrier oils also and use it from time to time so your problem will not come back. jean…

Sorry darlin’ I really don’t get into straight hair enough to know what products do what. You might try one of the forums where ladies really discuss flat ironing and such. I’m sure they’ll have some recommendations.
