The END and the BEGINNING
After a few years here(on wordpress). It’s finally time for my blog to move to a permanent location, one that is also better looking and functioning…i think :). This shall be my last post as I move the blog to mutuamatheka.co.ke/blog (not yet live). You shall see a lot of new stuff there and hopefully get to love it there as much as you loved it here.
Adios & welcome. See you on the other side!
The Wedding After :: Tony + Faith
A while ago, wedding photography sort of met with my favorite type of photography, Cityscapes! I love Nairobi city and love taking photos of the city. I have also been trying to figure out a way to shoot married couples in a planned wedding shoot after the wedding hence ‘the Wedding after’. Sadly though, not many of us married people can still fit into our wedding gowns a while after getting married so the only people I know that could still fit were Tony & Faith. I definitely hooked up with them to do a shoot in the city.
2 days before the day we were gonna shoot though, I realized we couldn’t shoot at sundown as I had planned so the solution was the opposite…sunrise. We were up at 5.30am to do this shoot. You should have seen us, I think it looked very strange, 2 guys in wedding regalia and a photographer taking photos at the crack of dawn at Uhuru park. Goodness!! For those that laughed when I mentioned Uhuru park, you may swallow that laugh when you see the photos(well, I hope you do), it’s actually an amazing place, I think. You judge from the photos.

Film Is Fun :: Basic Steps to Better Composition Workshop
Hey guys. Workshop number 2 is here. We had a very successful Workshop number 1 on Basic Steps to Better Photography, in this one, we focussed on basic stuff we can do to make ourselves infinitely better at photography. We had a great bunch of guys who either really enjoyed it or did a great job making Steve & I think we did a great job :). Either way, we shall go with what we thought. The Workshop was sold out and unfortunately we had to turn back a few people who were asking to join the day before the workshop(talk about last minute Kenyans). The point is to have a small group of 15 and be open to questions and discussion.
This time we focus on composition with focus on the human form. I think it’s gonna be cool and fun for those that come. First priority goes to the Workshop 1 attendees and if some cancel, we have room. 12th May is the date and the location details are emailed to attendees after they book their attendance. Steve Kitoto & I, Mutua Matheka are facilitating the workshop which is put together by the Workshop Company.
You can book by calling Amina 0722 134575 or emailing her ‘amina@theworkshop.co.ke’.

Wallpaper Monday [75] – Sun Burst
Some time back, a few friends and I took a random photography trip to the rift valley and then back to Magadi. It was fun and I have meaning to do something like that again sometime but somehow it hasn’t happened again…yet! This photograph was shot just before the sun set. It was a cloudy day and I expected some more drama in the sky’s but I was happy with this at least until I go back and pray the Lord blesses me with another sunset.

Tasty Tuesday – A Coastal Street Affair
As the sun set in Mombasa town that evening, 2 ladies and one guy(see how i’m talking about us in 3rd person…cool huh? haha) made their way to this street joint whose name I can’t remember to break fast with the muslims. It was during the holy month of Ramadhan you see. We were so hungry and it was only 5.30 but we agreed to wait because the guy at the food stall said they only start serving after they break the fast at around 6.30pm. We shared a small meal of potato bitings and dates that are put out in the open for anyone to share as they break fast.
That done, we dug into out open flame grilled chicken, street style.
Meet the chef himself…ok, the cook!! (I can’t remember his name)
And the streets of Mombasa turned it’s lights on as we turned our faces to stuff them with food. What happened that day was not eating, it was gluttony(sorry God). We needed some rest after ward.
