| TERMINAL SESSION | |
| Open the TTY session | <Ctrl><Alt><F1> through <Ctrl><Alt><F6> |
| Log in to the TTY session | Enter user name & password. |
| Use the TTY session | Use the terminal normally. |
| Log out of the TTY session | exit |
| Close the TTY session | <Ctrl><Alt><F7> |
| GUI SESSION | |
| Open the TTY session | <Ctrl><Alt><F1> through <Ctrl><Alt><F6> |
| Log in to the TTY session | Enter user name & password. |
| Start the GUI | startx |
| Use the GUI | Use the GUI normally. |
| Log out of the GUI | Use the GUI menu to log out (not shut down). |
| Log out of the TTY session | exit |
| Close the TTY session | <Ctrl><Alt><F7> |
| MANAGE SESSIONS | |
| View TTY sessions | w |
| Display the current TTY session | tty |
| Go to a new TTY session | <Ctrl><Alt><F1> through <Ctrl><Alt><F6> |
| Go to the default TTY session | <Ctrl><Alt><F7> |
