Create .iso from CD or DVD
This page was last updated on July 18, 2009.
This is a very basic use of the dd command. It asks for the location of the input (if) and the name of the output file (of).
CD
- Replace /dev/cdrom with the location of your CD drive and name.iso with the name you’d like to give your .iso file.
-
dd if=/dev/cdrom of=name.iso
DVD
- Replace /dev/dvd with the location of your DVD drive and name.iso with the name you’d like to give your .iso file.
-
dd if=/dev/dvd of=name.iso
Obligatory Happy Ending
And they all lived happily ever after. The end.
