You have probably seen these statistics of missing children published by companies, organizations or charities trying to induce you to buy products and services to protect your children.

Annually, there are approximately 115 children in the U.S. who are victims of a “stereotypical” kidnapping. These crimes involve someone the child does not know or a slight acquaintance who holds the child overnight, transports the child 50 miles or more, kills the child, demands ransom, or intends to keep the child permanently.

You should be concerned with your children’s safety but to what extent? There is a myriad assortment of products and services to protect your children. Some are valuable some are not. Some will aid in the recovery of your child should they go missing and sadly some are only used for post mortem identification.
The intent of this site is not to feature missing children but highlight issues concerning missing or abducted children. There are however RSS Feeds from the NCMEC and links to posters. Their stories may impact other missing children cases and therefore they will often be linked to a news article, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children®, a State’s missing child clearinghouse or a law enforcement agency. Normally, once a case is resolved the link to the child’s information is disabled by those sites. Whenever possible, the resolution of the case will be provided if known.
There are many other sites specializing in providing timely information including on-line Amber Alert notification. Instead the purpose here is to sort through the statistics, legislation and glaring headlines.
