ACMI and MIFF present New Voices in Australian Cinema
MIFF is teaming up with ACMI for a monthly screening series devoted to elevating early-career Australian filmmakers beyond the festival landscape. Join us as we showcase Melbourne-based emerging voices and celebrate the vitality and diversity of local cinema.
Sovereign Shorts
After generations of resistance and activism, Treaty for Victoria is here. MIFF, NITV and VicScreen are seeking short documentary proposals from Victorian-based First Peoples writers and directors that explore the theme of Treaty – with up to four films being selected to go into production and premiere at MIFF 2026.

Submissions close soon! We’re looking for feature-length films, short films and XR works from filmmakers across the globe for MIFF’s 74th edition, running from 6–23 August 2026. Final submissions due 11.59pm (PST) Thursday 12 February – don’t miss the opportunity to screen your film at the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest film festival.
