Metal Odyssey > Heavy Metal Music Blog | Welcome to Metal Odyssey, it will be quite the Metal trip!
We have fantastic news for our Chinese fans in Beijing: we will be back for our third time on February 8th. The permit for the concert took a little time, that is why the announcement comes in so late but YES the rumors were true.
Bay Area thrash legends FORBIDDEN have officially joined forces with BLKIIBLK!
Melding classic thrash metal with melodic and progressive leanings, FORBIDDEN’s recent return to both the stage and studio is a rebirth for the Bay Area legends.
Joining founding guitarist Craig Locicero and bassist Matt Camacho are drummer Chris Kontos (formerly of Machine Head and Attitude Adjustment), guitarist Jeremy Von Epp and vocalist Norman Skinner (ex-Imagika and Niviane).
States the band: “When Forbidden was ‘reborn’ in 2023, we knew we were going to write new music. That excited us. We also knew that we were in no rush to be signed or obligated to anything that didn’t feel ideal. Well… that situation has finally revealed itself. We are elated to announce that Forbidden has joined forces with BLKIIBLK as one of their inaugural signings.”
Mumbai, India extreme metal force GUTSLIT return with their blistering new single “I, Berzerker”, marking the band’s first release since 2023’s Carnal and the beginning of a new chapter in their relentless evolution. Released independently, the track showcases a sharpened, ferocious sound that reaffirms GUTSLIT’s position as one of the most uncompromising bands in modern death metal.
“I, Berzerker” is a raw declaration of intent. Written as a defiant response to the notion of mellowing with age, the song captures GUTSLIT at their most primal and focused. Blistering riff work, punishing rhythms, and guttural vocals collide in a tightly constructed assault that balances precision with unrestrained aggression.
The track draws inspiration from the myth of the Berzerker, the warrior consumed by battle rage, and reinterprets it as a metaphor for creative freedom. Lyrically, the song explores instinct, release, and total immersion in the act of creation. Violence and fury become symbols of purpose, expression, and identity.
“I, Berzerker” also marks an important turning point for the band. Now operating as a five piece, GUTSLIT feature the dual guitar lineup of Ishwar Hariharan and Aditya Swaminathan, bringing a renewed melodic edge and dynamic interplay to the band’s signature brutality. The core foundation remains as vicious as ever, with Aditya Barve on vocals, Gurdip SinghNarang on bass, and Aaron Pinto on drums driving the chaos forward.
Produced by GUTSLIT, the single was recorded across Gray Spark Studio for drums and Altar Studio for guitars and bass. Engineering was handled by Saurabh Lodha, with vocals engineered by Ashwin Shriyan. Mixing and mastering were completed by Mendel Bij de Liej of EX-ABORTED, delivering a crushing yet refined sonic impact. The single artwork was created by drummer Aaron Pinto, under his visual alias Kidsquidy.
About GUTSLIT:
Formed in Mumbai, India in 2007, GUTSLIT is one of the country’s most formidable extreme metal exports. With a history spanning nearly two decades, the band blend brutal death metal and grindcore with elements of thrash and punk, delivering a sound defined by precision, intensity, and relentless aggression.
GUTSLIT have toured and performed across 25 countries worldwide, appearing at major festivals including Obscene Extreme, Brutal Assault, PartySan, Summer Breeze, and Deathfeast Open Air, and sharing stages with bands such as DYING FETUS, NILE, BENIGHTED, and ABORTED. Known for their ferocious live performances and global ambition, GUTSLIT continue to push modern death metal forward without compromise.

Death metal maniacs NECRONOMICON EX MORTIS are back in full blood-drenched form with their new single, “Left To Die,” a crushing mid-tempo bruiser taken from the forthcoming EP Zombie Blood Nightmare, arriving February 20, 2026.
“Left To Die” is a straight-ahead stomp fest rooted in classic 1990s death metal, drawing clear influence from the pit-driving grooves of OBITUARY. Built on thick riffs and head-crushing momentum, the track culminates in a ripping end-of-song guitar solo from former MEGADETH shredder Jeff Young, adding a sharp flash of old-school virtuosity to the carnage.
Lyrically, “Left To Die” keeps things simple and gloriously vile. The song tells the story of being abandoned in a gore pit, surrounded by blood and guts and facing an inevitable end. No metaphors and no apologies. Blood and guts are fun.
NECRONOMICON EX MORTIS return with a fiery vengeance on Zombie Blood Nightmare, a new EP that finds the band at their most unhinged. Across six blood-soaked songs, the band pushes hard to recapture the glory days of 1990s death metal, blending horror, violence, and undead absurdity into a relentless riff-driven assault. This is NEM fully committed to terror, stupidity, and the raw spirit of the genre.
“Left To Die” serves as a blunt and bloody introduction to what Zombie Blood Nightmare delivers in full. Heavy, grotesque, and unapologetic.
NORTH AMERICAN INTO OBLIVION TOUR KICKS OFF ON MARCH 17
Jan. 15, 2026 – RICHMOND, Va. – Lamb of God have set a March 13 release date for their new album, Into Oblivion (Epic Records), marking the band’s first full-length release in four years.
Into Oblivion finds Lamb of God embracing their position as modern metal veterans, beholden to no one, with nothing left to prove. The 10-song collection references the band’s roots, doubles down on their signature groove, and expands their approach, resulting in an album that feels both deliberate and untethered.
News of Into Oblivion’s March arrival is accompanied by the debut of its title track, “Into Oblivion,” alongside a video (https://lamb-of-god.lnk.to/IntoOblivionOfficial) directed by Tom Flynn and Mike Watts. Aggressive and as unforgiving as ever, the song pairs the band’s musical ferocity with psychologically charged lyrics.
“For me, the album is about having the space to breathe creatively and not feeling like we have to keep up with any trend or expectation,” guitarist Mark Morton shares. “It feels nice to be untethered from any agenda beyond rallying around the notion of, ‘Let’s just make music that we think is cool,’ which is really where it all started.”
Vocalist Randy Blythe doesn’t mince words on why the band decided to name the album Into Oblivion, saying candidly: “Because that’s where we’re heading. In general, the album is about the ongoing and rapid breakdown of the social contract, particularly here in America. Things are acceptable now that would’ve horrified people just 20 years ago.”
In the months leading up to today’s announcement, the metal veterans released a pair of blistering singles that offered listeners a taste of the album’s range. “Sepsis,” the band’s first new song since 2022, paid homage to the early ‘90s Richmond underground that shaped Lamb of God’s formative years. Consequence, in their Heavy Song of the Week feature, noted the track’s fresh approach, saying “Morton’s riffs are bruising at this slower pace,” and adding that Blythe bellows “like a heavy metal Nick Cave.” “Parasocial Christ” followed, evoking classic Lamb of God with a three-minute onslaught that Revolver dubbed an “anti-tech thrasher.”
Produced and mixed by longtime studio collaborator Josh Wilbur, Into Oblivion was recorded across multiple locations tied closely to the band’s identity. Drums were tracked in Richmond, Va., with guitars and bass recorded at Morton’s home studio. Blythe recorded his vocals at the legendary Total Access studio in Redondo Beach, Calif., the birthplace of seminal punk records by Black Flag, Hüsker Dü, and Descendents.
Album pre-orders, including multiple limited-edition vinyl variants and signed copies, are available now (https://shop.lamb-of-god.com/collections/into-oblivion). An unannounced first pressing of the album was quietly posted on the band’s website earlier this week, and sold out immediately.
Lamb of God previously announced a Spring North American tour in what promises to be the heaviest trek of 2026. Joined by Kublai Khan TX, Fit For An Autopsy, and Sanguisugabogg, the tour kicks off on March 17. Tickets and VIP packages are on-sale now via Lamb-of-god.com/tour.

Watch the band’s fiery live performance of “The Tale Of Unsound Minds” from their Defectum Omnium full-length captured by Mike Holderbeast at the Fillmore in New Orleans, Louisiana last April at THIS LOCATION.
Forged in 1986, EXHORDER’s journey has proven exciting, yet tumultuous. After a twenty-seven-year absence following their final Roadrunner Records release in 1992, EXHORDER re-entered the game with an album considered by many to be a contender for the “Best Comeback Album” category. The band released Mourn The Southern Skies in October of 2019 through Nuclear Blast Records.
Fraught with euphoric peaks and crippling valleys throughout its existence, lineup changes, and the 2020-2021 pandemic, EXHORDER clawed back through the muck to release Defectum Omnium, the Latin phrase for “The Failure of All,” in 2024. “The world is a dumpster fire, and we are all complicit,” noted singer Kyle Thomas when elaborating on the title.

55Gore and StuhlGäng to lead an evening of absolute grind chaos at the official pre-show
Merry’s Sideshow to bring stunts and gore to Grand Central for free-entry afterparty
Tickets already nearing the 50% sold mark following last year’s sell-out
Manchester, UK; 14 January 2026: The organisers behind Manchester’s Goremageddon have unveiled full details for the 2026 pre-show and official afterparty, promising a full weekend of “absolute grind chaos.”
Ahead of the main festival at The Bread Shed on 21 March, the pre-show brings 55Gore and StuhlGäng to a limited-capacity venue, AATMA, on 20 March. The line-up is rounded out by GRUNK, Hideous Crawling Abomination, Shoplifterz, Megafart and LARSxULRICH. Due to the venue’s capacity, the organisers have issued a warning that tickets are already extremely limited.
The post-festival celebrations at Grand Central will feature live stunts from Merry’s Sideshow. In a shift from the musical assault, the afterparty will feature a “very special and intimate experience.” Attendees can expect stomach-churning live stunts, including The Human Blockhead, Wolf Trap and Mental Flossing.
The afterparty is free entry for all Goremageddon 2026 ticket holders and will conclude with a DJ spinning the most chaotic tracks for the “party animals” left standing.
Rancid Offal Promotions, the team behind Goremageddon, said: “We wanted to make sure the 2026 edition wasn’t just a day of music, but a full weekend of insanity. The pre-show is a total grindhouse, and bringing Merry’s Sideshow into the mix for the afterparty adds that extra layer of shock that the grind scene lives for. Tickets for the main event are already nearing 50% sold. We sold out last year, so don’t leave it too late to join the carnage.”
The main event on 21 March at The Bread Shed remains the weekend’s focal point, featuring a stacked international line-up led by Taiwanese gore overlords Fatuous Rump in their exclusive UK debut.
Trailblazing metal collective METAL ALLEGIANCE has returned with their brooding new single, “Black Horizon”. Their first release of original music since 2018, the song features roaring opening riffs from guitarist Alex Skolnick (TESTAMENT) and vocalist William DuVall’s (ALICE IN CHAINS) ominous howls, painting an apocalyptic scene.
Mark Menghi (KING ULTRAMEGA) on bass and Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER) on drums keep the dread looming low in the sky, ready to explode with ferocity at any moment. Systems fail, shadows fall, and the doomed cry for salvation in this desolate world. Gloomy, minimalistic verses bookend thunderous choruses, chronicling a desperate flight for survival.
“Who would have thought we’d be here 12 years later with new MA music? Very excited to have one of my favorite vocalists from one of my favorite bands on the first new MA music in 8+ years, which opens up a new era for MA. As the saying goes, you can’t kill what doesn’t die.” – Mark Menghi
“I was pleasantly surprised and absolutely honored to be asked to contribute to this song and I’m very happy with the result.” – William DuVall
“This song is a gift from the ghost of MA past. It’s salvaged from a stockpile of riffs we’d started long ago but never quite finished. Now, in combination with a first time voice for the band – the great William Duvall – we are pleased to announce a brand new track, forged from what once was, here to kick off a new era. Check it out!” – Alex Skolnick
“After having recording these drum tracks some time ago, I’m stoked that they finally get to see the light of day! Thanks to William for finishing it up for us and welcome to the MA family! \m/” – Mike Portnoy
Josh Wilbur – Mixing, Mastering on “Black Horizon”

We’re insanely proud to present the first single from our upcoming album. A clear step back to our classic sleaze sound. Full throttle. Dirty but big. Punky but heavy.
Do us a massive favor and pre-save “Satizfaction”. Let’s make this song huge together!
Time To Kill Records has signed MASTER’S ASHES for the release of the band’s debut full-length album, How The Mighty Have Fallen.
Formed by musicians with decades of experience across some of the most influential and uncompromising corners of heavy music, MASTER’S ASHES brings together a background that spans extreme metal, alternative and experimental sounds, resulting in a project shaped by vision, intent and hard-earned perspective. Rather than relying on past credentials, the band channels that collective history into a focused and confrontational statement, built on atmosphere, weight, and urgency.
MASTER’S ASHES is far more than a band – it’s a reckoning. Forged from the ranks of a few untouchable acts, this collective of battle-hardened musicians brings decades of innovation, chaos, and raw expression into a single, volatile entity. There is that known expression, when something is “more than the sum of its parts”.
We’re sure that even if this band was “just” the sum of their parts, Eric Forrest (Voivod), Afzaal Deen and Fred Waring (Crisis), Dan Kaufman (Destroy Judas, Dystopia, Mindrot), Jeff Golden (Six Feet Under, Crowbar), and Katy Crimson (The Convalescence), would already be pretty awesome. Individually, they are legendary. But together, they are unstoppable. A force that refuses to bow, bend, or behave.
Drawing from the atmospheric dread of early-90s alternative heavy music and the radical energy of classic crust, proto-industrial, and apocalyptic metal, MASTER’S ASHES channels the spirit of Amebix, Crisis, Voivod, and Neurosis while igniting something fiercely new. Their sound is a serrated blend of dystopian riffwork, textured samples, and uncompromising intensity. Music built for a world on fire.
True to their name, MASTER’S ASHES stands firmly in defiance: no gods, no masters, only resistance. Their debut full-length, How The Mighty Have Fallen, is nothing short of a rallying cry, a scorched-earth commentary on the current political climate and a ruthless slap in the face to anyone expecting business as usual. It’s a dark, atmospheric, and aggressive opening statement from a band unafraid to speak truth to power and tear down the false idols of a collapsing age.
MASTER’S ASHES stands as a testament to what happens when experience, conviction, and rebellion collide. This is not a nostalgia act. This is not a supergroup gimmick. This is the next wave of resistance: loud, unfiltered, and inevitable.
Further details on the album, along with the first single, will be revealed in the coming weeks.
“Tales From The Pusciverse” #1 cover featuring artwork by Andy Belanger
“TALES FROM THE PUSCIVERSE” #1 DEBUTS BELLENDIA BLACK
Jan. 12, 2026 — The Pusciverse – Puscifer expands its universe with the launch of the band’s first comic book series, “Tales From The Pusciverse.” Issue #1 centers on Bellendia Black, a character first seen in the band’s “Pendulum” video.
Written by Maynard James Keenan, the debut issue features artwork by Marlin Shoop (“Captain Action,” “G.I. Joe,” “Unprepped”) and Andy Belanger (“Kill Shakespeare,” “Southern Cross,” “Friday the 13th”), with lettering by Jack Morelli (“Afterlife with Archie,” “Peter Parker Annual,” Marvel Comics).
“I remember how excited I was as an elementary school kid when Wolverine was first introduced in one of the Hulk issues. Called neighborhood dibs immediately (long before cosplay was a named thing),” Keenan shares. “Seeing Bellendia Black in print brings back all of those joyful school kid memories.”
“Puscifer’s leap into comics with Maynard Keenan isn’t merch or novelty – it’s an extension of their long-running conversation with the absurd,” says Shoop. “The book hums with the same tension as the music: satire wrapped in menace, humor sharpened into philosophy. I’m glad I could be a part of that and bring it to their vision.”
The introductory issue presents a conversation between Keenan and Bellendia Black, serving as both an introduction to the character and a gateway to the larger series, which will continue with future installments spotlighting Fanny Grey and The Synth Whisperer. Additional details and release dates will be announced soon.
“Tales From The Pusciverse” is available exclusively via Puscifer.com.
Puscifer’s new album, Normal Isn’t, arrives Feb. 6 via Puscifer Entertainment/Alchemy Recordings/BMG.
Stream COSCRADH’s “Caesar’s Revelation (Hibernia L. VI V. XIV ad XVI et XXIV)” HERE.
Like a black wind rising off peatlands long left to silence, Ireland’s COSCRADH unearths their second album, Carving The Causeway To The Otherworld, wrenching up the bog-roads of the dead through dread sorcery.
An invocation of deep-rooted heritage and ancient mysticism, the album resurrects the three-thousand-year-old oaken pathways raised by warring tribes under the cold eye of the druid, toward the realm beyond life, and conjuring these vanished labors with the memory of violence itself.
Channeling the druid as both astronomer and war-seer, COSCRADH invokes Mars as the god whose red light demands sacrifice, revealing Gaelic warriors hollowing themselves into vessels and letting the fury of Goac enter and devour them for battle. Guitars flare and burn like meteors knifing the horizon, unfurling riffs rusted with ancestral power.
The blistering percussive onslaught crashes like hooves on dead earth as the band’s savage ferocity erupts like a war-cry cast into the heavens, crowned in ruinous splendor. COSCRADH fully inhabits this domain between worlds, breathing into their work the fury and spiritual force of a people who carved truths into land, sky, and grave.

A communion of druidic science and blood, ritual aggression, and linguistic resurrection, Carving The Causeway To The Otherworld compels a celestial reckoning where fate itself is flung upon the altar. Like gods that ride the firmament, COSCRADH’s cold, cruel radiance falls upon all who hear it.
The record is a cosmic execution, binding together the bygone causeways, war gods, stone idols, and star-born forces that the druids sought to harness. A vision of the night sky as a living battlement of omens, for those who would hark to the old wrathful spirits.

RATS WILL FEAST will release their new EP, “An Evocation”, on April 3rd 2026 via Time To Kill Records. RATS WILL FEAST is an experimental hardcore outfit from Jyväskylä, Finland, active in its current form since 2018.
The Finnish hardcore unit continues to refine and expand their signature blend of extreme aggression, hallucinatory chaos and melodic depth. Following the destructive intensity of Hellhole, the new EP promises a more focused and defined expression of the band’s evolving sound, capturing both the brutality and emotional resonance that have become their hallmark.
The first single will be unleashed in the coming weeks, as RATS WILL FEAST prepares to deliver another potent statement to the international hardcore scene.
An Evocation celebrates RATS WILL FEAST‘s diverse and imaginative interpretation of modern metallic hardcore. The new EP is the band’s most concise and clear articulation of what the band wants to say, and what it’s aiming for with its sound. The album’s soundscape is dense, diverse, and exudes a wide palette of tones that have accompanied the band for 10 years.
The band explores a variety of expressions on the album, as the violence and volatility of the sound is balanced with an intensely melodic approach. While the album offers a wide spectrum, it remains focused on the band’s signature sound.
Lyrically,An Evocation is a portrait of a mindscape that strives to accept life as it is. Heavy metal bands often imagine various dystopias and fantasy worlds that they sing about. An Evocation thirsts for a safe haven in the turmoil of this world and society.
The lyrics seek to portray a person who moves between different levels of acceptance and resentment. It is a snapshot of a process that touches everyone’s life. Between the lines, the lyrics also reflect on the question of what makes you get up on stage again and again, and what makes writing and performing this kind of music important to yourself and others. Playing heavy music is a valve that lets painful and difficult things flow into some kind of beautiful, manageable form.
