What do I say about me? I’m 79, a wife of 59 years to Mel, a mom to 5 grown kids, mother-in-law to 5, grandma to 11, (12 counting Annika), great-gran to Elin- and it all adds up to a rich and real life. Until the company closed 5 years ago I was a Regional Vice President with Willow House, one of the directs-to-the-company, having spent many years in direct sales. Mel and I support Orphans’ Tree, a ministry serving older Russian orphans and have been to Russia a few times sponsoring “life skills” clinics for these dear kids. For 20 years I was a presenter for Walk Thru the Bible Seminars. Love to read, paint, visit new places, do crosswords and spend time on the North Shore of Lake Superior. We love our young church! Enough!! Susan Halleen Awes

Welcome to May 1st!
This is a random glimpse of the world, dimly seen thru the window of faith, on the lookout for joy, purpose and laughter every day. In this blog I want to share some of the findings of this search - words, ideas, pictures, music, evidence of Presence - that give me reason to pause or wonder or laugh. Consider it a humble beginning, a toe dipped in the shallow shore of the 21st. century. Sue Awes Minneapolis, MN-

Sue; you have touched my soul today, right now at 1:30 pm on May 21st,2010 !
I relived my life a bit right now thru your words and memories;what some of your readers may NOT know is your tribute to Mom on March 8,1990 at her funeral; your tribute was entitled”no daughters,Peg ” and I have it on tape and have perhaps listened to it 100 times since then.
Thank YOU for these wonderful words about Mom…PEG !
I will love you forever,
Cousin Chuck

What a gift to be on the journey with Sue — to join her on the outlook for joy and purpose and healing laughter. Just today I smelled the rain and nearly shouted, “Thanks be to God.” Thank you for reminding us that gratitude is at the center of Grace. YOU ARE LOVE, DEAR SUE! Dianne

My dearest Sue (and Mel),
Thank you Mel for taking a moment to wish Brian and myself a happy anniversary and to share Sue’s delightful blog with me. I’ve made it one of my “favorites” and will visit it often. Sue, you and I share many values and beliefs in common as different as we certainly are. Your love letter to Mel was inspirational, wise and touching. I will share it with my beloved and he, too, will enjoy it as much as I, I’m sure. Much love, Tricia
