Matthew Shang
Hi! I'm a BS/MS student studying computer science at the University of Washington. I'm currently interested in graphics, programming languages, and math, and am fortunate to be advised by Gilbert Bernstein on projects at the intersections of these topics.
In industry, I worked on systems at Jane Street, continuous integration tools at Two Sigma, and CUDA developer tools at NVIDIA. In my free time, I enjoy cooking and playing piano (mostly Chopin).
Projects
GAWLF (miniGolf Augmented With mixed reaLity and Friends)
Multiplayer minigolf in augmented reality with an LLM-powered announcer
Illume
Physically based GPU pathtracer
Teaching
I have been a TA at UW for:
- CSE 557: Computer Graphics (Autumn 2024)
- CSE 431: Computational Complexity (Winter 2025)
- CSE 312: Probability (Winter 2023, Spring 2025)
