FIERCE

  • “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think” — Carter Crocker.
  • “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent” — Eleanor Roosevelt.

Actions or words. Male or female.

Weather looks fierce this weekend so be careful out there. See you Monday.

CATENARY

Cute word. Catenary.

But I will tell you that the online definition of the word is slightly misleading.

These from Google and Wikipedia, who really should know better.

  1. The catenary curve has a U-like shape, superficially similar in appearance to a parabola.

2. The curve appears in the design of certain types of arches and as a cross section of the CATenoid—the shape assumed by a soap film bounded by two parallel circular rings.

You see that second definition? They almost got it right. Almost.

Everyone knows ‘catenary’ means when a cat fits itself into a small space and falls asleep in a U-shape.

I rest my case.

i’ve got you under my skin…🎶

CAPTIVATING

Weird how a word can make a song title pop into your head, isn’t it?

My first thought was of “Captivating Rhythm” by Fred and Adele Astaire. But that’s not even the correct name of the song. The correct title is “Fascinating Rhythm.” So much for that song.

Then I thought of the song, “I’ve Got You Under My Skin.” It doesn’t even have the word CAPTIVATING in it, but you know what? It sounded like a good song to me.

And this girl is, obviously, captivated by herself. As is the girl behind her, having her photo taken by a pro. I was the one captivated by both of them. Look at the shoes on the pro photographer. Yikes! Captivating, no?

So there you go. Captivating is the word. Sing any song you’d like!

don’t even get me started

DISAPPROVE

Girl, don’t even get me started.

I love conversations that start like that because you know they are going to be good. And you are going to get an opinion on something whether they disapprove or not.

Clothes: Who are they making this for? What kind of cheap material is this? And they want how much? That’s just crazy!

Food: Do you remember what I ordered? This looks like it’s been sitting under the heating lamp for too long. Do you see our waitress around here?

We put the GRR-RR in girl!

Now, tell us how you really feel.

MURKY

Details on the atmospheric conditions and how the clouds collide are murky, but we got snow over the weekend!!!

This is the third year in a row that my part of Florida has seen snow. And the three years of snow have all been within the same 10 days.

Weird, isn’t it? Again, details are murky.

No snowmen were made during the snowfall. But there were plenty of photos of the snow online.

Have a great Monday!

EMOTION

Sometimes you’re up, sometimes you’re down.

These two girls share a common saying: “Emotions are the language of the soul.”

Well, I don’t know who said that, but I like it.

Smile, cry, let it out! And then have a great weekend. See you Monday!

the cat’s meow

ALLURING

Yes, cats are widely considered alluring due to a captivating mix of their physical beauty, graceful movements, mysterious independence, soothing sounds (purring), and ability to provide both companionship and solitude, making them enchanting and desirable companions for many people. Their unique blend of wild instincts and affectionate moments creates a powerful, almost magical, appeal that has fascinated humans for centuries.

Whew! That is quite the description of ALLURING that one of my cats must have written.

“The ‘alluring’ part happens in about 10 minutes…as soon as the hair conditioner and eye mask have done their magic.”

GENEROUS

The Prompt for today is Generous, but I think generous and kindness are a matched set.

“You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

“We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give” – Winston Churchill

SITUATION

Ever been in that situation where you really want something but…you have reservations.

“Free haircut! Master hairstylist is taking applications for those willing to have their hair cut.”

By him.

In the middle of downtown. Fundraiser, he says.

His almost-a-master assistant will be watching and learning as he cuts.

For every person whose hair he cuts, he takes a break with a beer.

You are his last customer.

slinky the snake

SLINKY

When I think of slinky, I think of dresses that women look poured into. You know those that fit so close and just kind of ooze off the body until they puddle onto the floor.

I have no pictures of anything like that. Good thing, right?

After the slinky dresses, the next thing I thought about was snakes. Slinky snakes. But here Google disagrees with me. Snakes do not slink. They undulate.

Real snakes have complex muscles allowing them to bend and undulate, creating that smooth, continuous motion, while Slinky Snakes (the toy) use hinged segments for a similar effect, making them great for imaginative play.

Undulate. Reminds me of that saying, “Why use a large word when a diminutive one will do instead.”

Have a great Monday. You could also have a magnificent Monday. Depends on how large a word you feel like using. But it’s Monday, so be gentle.
